1 Quick question about Garrys Mod. Please help!

hey i was just wondering, is there something wrong with my PC? cause when i try to get the SWEPS and maps to work they dont show up in the game. I unzip and import all the winzip stuff into my computer in the directed place so i dunno wats wrong. Thanks in advance!

Huh. That is strange.

You're putting them into Program Files - Steam - Steamapps - [Your Steam ID] - Garry's Mod, right? Because aside from that, I have no idea what the issue might be. Sorry o.o

Edit: SWEPS go into the addons folder. Be sure to place the entire zipped file there, and it should work.
As for maps, just place them in the Garry's Mod map folder.

Did you put the maps into addons, or just the SWEPS?

Because maps go into the GMOD map folder.

the maps (.bsp files) go into C-Program Files - Steam - Steamapps - [Your Steam ID] - Garry's Mod-Garry's Mod-maps

ok i might have figured it out on my gmod.org account i hadnt verified that i had gmod so that may be why it wasnt working. gonna test it now.
EDIT: Just to verify, i need to unzip the SWEP once its downloaded right?

The addons tend to contain the appropriate files, along with an "info.txt" file, if I'm not mistaken.
It's usually something along the lines of folders named "Materials", "Models" or "lua" along with that file.

The folder containing these things goes in addons (sorry for the retarded explanation, I have a cold, and this is my brain on paracetamol )

ok this is retarded i know, but shold i be able to use SWEPs in single player or just multiplayer?
