Some people have waaaaay too much time on their hands, but that was brilliant. Though have you ever tried sitting through 1812 overture, it takes ages and ages of generic music until you get to the "Ba buh ba ba-ba buh ba BA buh buh" bit everyone remembers.

OMG Its bad cos it sounds bad compared to the original! (sarcasm)

WAIT! oh shit its played by CELLPHONES! that could explain why it doesn't sound perfect cos they actually did it on cellphones and not just dub it so it would sound like a $5000 sound system.

conclusion: its made using CELLPHONES that have bad speakers, you cant expect it to be better than that. Its freakin awesome what they have done here. The execution was excellent. Give that guy a prize of some description

Cool idea, bit better execution pl0x.

Its supposed to end with the Destruction of the Court in London. :p
Actually that's one of my favourite classical pieces.

*shrug* I dunno, I thought it was kinda neat...now if they continued with other pieces of music for a whole series of these adverts, I'd like it more (since they already have the phones & the logistics worked out.)

As much as I hate to agree with Youtube commenters, one of the ones on there has it right.

"What a horrible execution of a great idea."

Seriously. That was to Tchaikovsky what the Bush Administration was to intelligence. It's an excellent idea, but it came up wayyy short in my opinion.
Yep. This.

This is isn't original at all. Toyota (I think) paved a road a certain way with small groves so that a specific car when driving over it would play the gallop from Rossini's William Tell Overture. Replace phones with cars and William Tell with 1812 and you have this ad.

While I do enjoy the 1812 Overture I do agree with Tchaikovsky's opinion of it being a 'Carnival Piece'. The thing is essentially a piece of Propaganda praising Russian involvement in one of the most pointless series of battles ever fought. It doesn't really have any heart in it and seems more focused with causing impressive noises. Now while I like the song a lot, in fact it is one of my most favourite pieces of music, it's important to know where it's roots lie. These roots make this song a poor choice for a Mobile Phone ad.

Also why is it a garbled mess? They should have used a single part of the song, probably the crescendo which everyone knows, rather than jumping around. I wasn't sure what I was listening for a bit.

This reminds me of another video I saw.

I thought this video was so cool.

Don't know why the phones reminded me of it though...

And thus the criticisms come forth immediately.

Never mind that this is original, something that actually relates to the subject material (read: an advert for phones with phones in it instead of some other nonsense) and is incredibly ambitious.

No; the thread becomes full of comments such as "I wouldn't recognise it if I wasn't told". Expecting mobile phone messaging tones to bear a completely perfect interpretation to a fully orchestric piece.

More and more I lose faith in so much, and so many people wonder why industries are unwilling to take risks in any medium, why they cater to proven entities that came before.

Because YOU exist, the idiots of the world. The idiots of the world that immediately dog something without thinking of the layers behind it.
I must say I agree, how DARE you're opinion disagree with mine. Everyone knows that what is good and what is bad is fact, and the fact is that my opinions are ALWAYS correct. And all of you inferior disagreeing opinions only show how stupid you are.

But anyways on topic. I thought it was quite well done to make all those low quality bloops and bleeps make a recognizable piece of music.

If you look, I didn't actually supply my opinion on the piece itself. More commenting on the attitude of the people supplying theirs.

Of course it doesn't sound exactly like the Overture, how the hell would it? What I was referring to before you mounted your high horse, is being able to cast judgment on something within its relative terms.

- An eight year old scoring a goal must be nothing, because there is professional footballers scoring 30 yard screamers in the world.

Fair enough my opinion on there being idiots in the world can be argued, I may be wrong - everyone in the world may be completely intelligent and I'm just pessimistic.

So you mean this wasn't your opinion?

looks to me that the opinion that it was original and ambitious was supplied.

But my main argument was to this,

So much bile just because someone didn't like something. Or rather why they didn't like it. Everyone is allowed to like or dislike something for whatever reason they want. You are not the arbiter of what is or is not a good reason. If they wanted it to be perfect that up to them and does in no way make them idiots.
