Well... great.

The unnecessary combat roll has me giggling. Though I can't see this ending well, especially with that tank there.

by the logic of his own and our own universe his armour is too dense for their bullets or melee weapons to even affect him. by JRPG rules he is an archer, meaning he is effectively wearing krumkake plating https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Krumkake (these things crack and cumble if you so much as give them a particularly stern look)

This makes sense. Everyone chose a class that was the exact opposite of what they were. Flashy, extroverted dancer. Weak, yet tactical archer, and the powerful and wise wizard.

Maybe the crystal actually wants to kill them or it is planning to get them intentionally captured so that they would get into a position where they can strike at the heart of the enemy.
