Ratchet & Clank Collection Rockets onto PS3

A PS3 collection of the first three Ratchet & Clank games will allow players to unleash the Lombax/robot duo's wacky arsenal in full HD.

Did you know that the Ratchet & Clank series is ten years old this year? Given the more-or-less yearly release schedule (there are ten games [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ratchet_%26_Clank#Series_1] in the series, not counting a cell phone spinoff), the quirky duo has managed to keep a pretty consistent level of quality. While the first three PS2 games still hold up well today, some of the shine is coming off around the edges, and that's no way to treat two heroes who have saved the galaxy time and time again. In honor of the team's 10th anniversary, Sony will be releasing the Ratchet & Clank Collection for PS3, which will collect Ratchet & Clank, Going Commando, and Up Your Arsenal in full 1080p high-definition.

The Ratchet and Clank collection follows in the wake of similar compilations for Jak and Daxter [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/94323-Sony-Remastering-God-of-War-I-and-II-for-PS3] and other popular PS2 series. In addition to a "full 1080p HD remaster" (which is interesting, as most PS3 games display at 720p), Insomniac Games also promises that the competitive online multiplayer from Up Your Arsenal will return.

European fans will receive the game fairly soon (Spring 2012), but North American fans will have to hold out until Fall. The wait might be worth it, however, as Ted Price, Insomniac's CEO states that "we have something very special planned for our North American fans to celebrate the 10th anniversary." Until then, this may be a good time to check out Arkham City [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/reviews/4930-Rachet-and-Clank-All-4-One]. It seems that Ratchet and Clank may be intergalactic superheroes, but even they don't have the chops to stand up to Batman.

Got the 3 first games on the PS2...but still getting the collection. Along with Sly Cooper and Jack and Daxter collection. ^^

Just waiting for the Devil May Cry collection which is released in April, I think.

Fixed! No hate group support here, I promise. I fully endorse Ratchet smashing those guys over the head with a wrench.

Yay! We NEVER get anything first in Europe, this makes a pleasent change!

North American fans will have to hold out until Fall. The wait might be worth it, however, as Ted Price, Insomniac's CEO states that "we have something very special planned for our North American fans to celebrate the 10th anniversary."
WHAT? We get it early but the Americans get something "very special?" What makes the North American fans so special? Why don't we Europeans get it too...? *Sob*

Think of the earlier release date as your "very special" something.
I am trying to be optimistic for you.

Finally, I can be playing Ratchet & Clank 3 multiplayer with someone that isn't me! Buying this fo' sho'.

Edit: Wait a minute... goddamn it, where is Ratchet: Gladiator? I know not everyone love it in comparison to the others, but it's still a solid game, and with coop. Maybe it'll be DLC...

Huh. After the crushing disappointment that was Mass Effect 3's ending, this has actually managed to cheer me up and make me smile. :) Thank you, Insomniac!

One of the reasons I bought a PS3 was I saw a review for the Tools of Destruction and thought it looked like it would be a lot of fun to play and thankfully it didn't disappoint so the chance to play the earlier games without dusting off my PS2 and paying stupid prices for old copies gets a big WAHOOO!! from me.

About damn time if I say so myself. Ratchet is my favourite platforming franchise, and even though I ADORE TOD and ACIT, I also really want to get into the UYA multiplayer. I heard it was great in both game and community. Since Ratchet is the only one of the big 3 of the PS2 (Ratchet, Sly, Jak) that has an original release, I wonder if they're just going to gloss some HD paint over the original or make it a step towards the Future games' style. Odds are it's just going to be a paint job, but ah well.

EDIT: Skipped over the part that went over how we aren't getting the game first. Poo. Though I wonder what Uncle Price is promising the North American crowd. Creating a true sequel to ACIT that doesn't include obnoxious mutliplayer?

I am pregnant with the awesome that just exploded all over the insides of my jeans. Brilliant, spectacular, adjective, another adjective, YES, OH GOD YES. R&C:UYA was the best multiplayer Ps2 experience, and the best well.. everything experience, ever! In the history of history! Oh god, after reading this, I'm never going to wash my eyes again.

I only played half way through 1 on the ps2 because I sucked back then and I've always was curious about its sequels. So I have to wonder why Deadlocked isn't coming out in HD.
