Witness the Cruelty of the Mailman Who Doesn't Have Diablo

It's the best Diablo-III-mailman Western you'll see all day.

Diablo III hasn't been having the smoothest launch [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/117262-Server-Issues-Mar-Diablo-IIIs-Launch], but amidst all the Error 37s and Error 3006s and all of us who are actually logged in and playing the game just fine, we forget a small yet beleaguered section of the gaming populace: Those whose copies haven't come yet.

In this short film, a gamer deals with the despair of an empty mailbox where there should rightfully be a copy of Diablo III. Then the mailman shows up, and ... okay, I'm not going to spoil what happens, but it's straight out of The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly. It may actually be a reference to a specific Western - I'm not sure! I'm sure someone will let me know in the comments.

If you're one of the gamers out there who still has an empty mailbox, cheer up. By the time your game comes, the servers will probably be stable so you can actually play it.

I never thought I would ever use the words "Diablo III," "mailman" and "Western" in the same sentence before. And yet.

(Thanks Biodisaster for the tip!)

It's from Once Upon a Time in the West (another one of Sergio Leone's spaghetti western). It's one of the best scenes of all time.

I thought the part at the end was referencing the scene in The Good, the Bad and the Ugly where Tuco puts the sign in the gun shop owner's mouth. Unless Leone repeated it in the later film, I don't recall.

Got to say the guy playing the gamer has the perfect face for a Leone movie.

Skip to 4:20 if you don't want to watch the whole thing and get what's going on (should watch the whole thing since it's so awesome, but I realize some people don't want to hang in there that long).

I say, that mailman is a professional troll at best! Still I can feel that man pain (it took a month after my birthday for my brother present to arrive due to some postal problem).

Great spoof, but those mailboxes imitating the gate-like structure really did apply the finishing touch. Not sure if intentional, but I lol'd.

I feel compeled to add that Sergio Leone's westerns are some of the best, IMHO.

They definitely are. Everyone mentions The Good, the Bad and the Ugly as their favorite ending duel. I still think For a Few Dollars More is the best final duel of them all:

In the end, Ennio Morricone makes Leone's films legendary.

My top three favorite western movies is the whole "Man with no name" trilogy. I think my favorite is possibly A Fist Full of Dollars.

Sergio Leone's "Once Upon a Time in the West". I laughed out loud at the end of it (the parody that is). For my money, Once Upon a Time in the West was better than most any Clint Eastwood Western you've ever seen (and I've seen all of them).

Eh, I dunno. The graveyard scene is probably the most epic scene about three men standing around doing nothing ever filmed :)

The soundtrack is from the final duel in Once Upon a Time in the West, and the magazine in the mouth is a reference to Henry Fonda's character putting a harmonica into Charles Bronson's characters's mouth in the flashback during the final duel.

You should definitely go see that film, btw. I'd say it's at the very least the most epic/sweeping/grand of Sergio Leone's westerns, and its theme of the "end of the West" is fitting for Leone's last western (Duck, you Sucker doesn't count as a western imo).

It's okay. You don't need to add "IMHO" to the truth like that.

My mailman would never subject me to such evils. If he did I'd never answer the door in my pants ever again!

I really must watch Once Upon a Time in the West again soon. Love that film.

Do yourself a favor and check out Kurosawa's Yojimbo.
