Barack Obama: Zune User?

The portable media player [http://www.barackobama.com/index.php].

The Zune might be forever cursed to playing second-fiddle to Apple's astronomically popular line of iPods, but it's got a fan in President-Elect Barack Obama. Philadelphia City Paper blogger Neal Santos claims [http://www.citypaper.net/blogs/clog/2008/12/02/cardio-with-obama/] to have spotted Obama using a Zune while doing some cardio in a gym. While too awestruck by Obama as he "walked majestically across the gym floor in his track pants and sweat shirt", Santos got a good view of the soon-to-be-leader-of-the-free-world as he "hopped on the machine next to me and broke a mean sweat while reading a copy of USA Today and listening to his Zune".

Meeting widespread skepticism from readers who could not believe that Obama, a man known for his superlative discrimination, could use an inferior product like the Zune, Santos asserted [http://www.citypaper.net/blogs/clog/2008/12/03/zunegate/] that he saw what he saw. "I vividily remember Obama pulling out an MP3 player with his left hand while exercising on the machine," he wrote. "It had a dark case protecting it and from what I saw, he was using a Zune. I've seen a Zune in action. I know what it looks like."

With everything Obama touches turning to gold, could this be the beginning of a massive turnaround in popularity for Microsoft's portable media player?

I wonder if he leaves the wi-fi on for the Zune Social functions... I have a Zune, but there are so few other Zune-owners around my parts that I've just given up and switched that off to conserve battery power.

I also wonder if he has a Presidential Zune tag up on Zune.net...

The Zune is way better than pretty much every other portable media player on the market. It's a shame people don't use it more. Good to see that Obama is intelligent about more things than one.

Well, if the Secret Service won't even let him have a Blackberry I doubt they'd let him do that...who knows what the terrorists could do if they hacked into his Zune!!!

Laughter aside (and I did get a good chuckle) the limitation on the President of the US having a Blackberry is because the central server for the Blackberry network is outside the US. Us pinko furriners in the Great White North would have access to ur sekret kodes... mweheheheheh...

edited to add: I'm suddenly tempted to change my Zune Tag to "Prez O".

Product Placement on High School Exams
This exam question was brought to you by Coke-a-cola. When the studying gets to you, try a nice, refreshing Coke-a-cola.

I, too, have a Zune (God, it sounds like an AA meeting). We should seriously rally around the president, encourage him to come out and be public about his Zune-habit. There are so many politicians who claim to be IPod users so their constituency supports them, but as soon as they get home, they break out their Zunes. It's time to encourage them to come out!

Viva la Zune!

The real question is what kind of lazy-ass workout was he doing that he could read a copy of USA Today?

Well Isn't that special?

I thought the Zune and iPod were the same hardware, different software? Oh well I didn't realize the votes were for iPod and Zune(I vote Zune, yet not Obama).

Honestly, who cares? That's like saying that the fact that Sarah Palin wears a particular brand of lipstick is an endorsement for that specific lipstick brand. Let the politicians and celebrities use/wear whatever they want; it's no real concern of mine.

(IMHO)

"Free World" was apt considering the US's enormous influence on global affairs (both economically and militarily). Even if it is declining it is significant.

Although "soon-to-be-most-powerful-man-on-Earth" might be better yet.

And although I prefer Zunes to iPods I really don't care which Obama uses. But the rabid Apple fans do, morons.

Oh, my, fucking, god. Who gives a tiddly wank? Seriously, it's a device that you listen to music on. Nothing more! There are people saying they want their vote back, which proves how shallow his voters are. He didn't win because people thought he would be the better president, he won because he's charming, charismatic and black. I not against having a black person for president I just wish he was someone that was ugly and would actually do good for the country.

You mean 'Soon to be most powerful man on earth 10 years ago". You know, back before we were drowning in debt, locked in two "police action" style wars, universally hated (i'll admit we were hated, but not so...unanimously) and our biggest concern was the president getting a hummer in the oval office.
