you mean his blood-stained shorts WERE found near the crime scene. i don't generally get all grammar-nazi, but when someone is getting paid for their reporting, i expect a certain level of professionalism haha.

OT: this kinda shit needs to stop. every time some jackass pulls this kinda stunt, it fuels the fire of media and politicians linking violence and videogames. in truth, this could have happened over a game of monopoly nearly as easily, but the media will never see it that way.
Changed it to "were" since US treats it as plural. Not me, though, I always see "shorts, pants" as singular. xD

Another note, though, yeah, the media will have a field day with this; but ignoring it might be a bigger problem. I agree with the other posts that think the 16-year old boy has serious mental issues. If he didn't act out that day, maybe as he got older? I rage hard when playing games but never to the point that I want to kill anyone.

Note to self: never go up against any DOTA players from the Philippines.

Apparently to them DOTA is serious business.

There's a lot of anger in that 'kid.' Way too much anger. The hate that had to have gone into doing something like this...

Well there goes my day. What an awful way to die and that kid is severely messed up in the head. Potential head smashing and 40 stabs? My goodness, get the kid some help but he must serve some sort of sentence. None of this "minor" bullshit. Disturbed or not, he knows what the fuck he did.

"Regardless of what game you're playing, how old you are or where you're based, murdering someone over a video game might be one of the most depressing things to hear and read about."
Doesn't seem to me like he was murdered over a video game at all. More likely that it was because of money and friendship.
Video games were involved along the line somewhere it seems, but this most definately wasn't a crime *because* of video games.
These kind of stories... I often think to myself if someone was killed over some kind of debt whilst gardening would the "gardening community" write something similar?
Seems like the causes were monetary and betrayal based. You could probably substitute DOTA for poker or anything else for that matter.

So, did he get much gold out of it or is it subject to reduced reward for killing a lower level player?

I'm very much against the death penalty in general BUT I'm willing to make an exception in this case. This kid is completely fucked in the head and it would probably be pointless to try and give him any sort of psychological help if he's already capable of committing such a violent and repulsive crime on the age of 16.

The more I think about it, however, the more I would just like to see a life sentence. What worse fate is there than being stuck in a little room with only the most basic necessities for the rest of your miserable existence?

I also wonder if you can get your DOTA account banned for stabbing your opponent in real-life.

Anger is anger. Doesnt matter what caused it as it different things for different people. Some have killed their wives over a badly cooked meal or due to some one cutting them up on the road. But then i guess "kid stabbed due to anger" isnt a grabbing story is it? Only last week 29 people killed in China due to religion and another 55 boys killed in Africa for the same reason - dont see fox news bleating about the evils of religion?

Sorry for the rant, just annoys me. Poor kid. They need to change laws to make people of all ages accountable. Seems younger and younger kids are committing serious crimes like murder.
