Square Enix Files New Trademark for Deus Ex

Square Enix looks to augment the series with the possibility of a new title.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution enjoyed a movie adaptation in the works [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/editorials/reviews/9084-Deus-Ex-Human-Revolution-Review], with a writer and director already attached to the project. But what about a game sequel? It looks like there may be something on the horizon: some sleuthing has turned up a recently filed trademark for the name "Deus Ex: Human Defiance".

The European Ausgamers [http://tmview.europa.eu/tmview/basicSearch.html?ST13=EM500000011605474] verified the filing as genuine, identifying that the trademark was filed by the same firm that applied for Deus Ex: Human Revolution.

Additional details are scarce apart from rampant speculation on Thief 4 [http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=516444]. Until we find out more, we'll have to wait and see.

In any case, a sequel to the events of Human Revolution looks pretty interesting right now, especially if the boss fights [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/113141-Eidos-Outsourced-Those-Deux-Ex-HR-Boss-Fights] are given some extra attention this time around.

Cool! now lets fix that problem with the character building, and actually make us properly choose to create a unique and specialized character build that best compliments our own play style... not like human revolution, where by the end Jensen is good at pretty much everything and by the beginning is perfect with the whole shooting thing...<.<

PleaseBeASequel PleaseBeASequel PleaseBeASequel PleaseBeASequel...

Please, for the love of whatever deity you pray to(if applicable) be a sequel to Human Revolution.

Seriously, I love that game. Damn near everything was terrific, from the art style to the music(which I still listen to today). From the way I dress to the things I make with my 3D modeling abilities, that game has inspired and influenced me in countless ways. I want to see that world again, and explore the tiny facets of it like I did all the way back in August of 2011. Please make it happen.

Squeenix has a record for taking franchises in the wrong direction and an overreliance on pretty graphics, but if Eidos are allowed to design the actual gameplay again then I'm looking forward to what's coming. DE:HR was a great game in nearly all respects (aside from the aforementioned boss battles), so it'll be interesting what they come up with for a sequel.

Lets get this out of the way quickly, like ripping off a plaster...

"I didn't ask for this."

But I really want it now anyway!

A bit too much points inflation in Deus EX:HR

But the game is now an Action rpg...you can't expect to be completely useless with every gun when the game starts where it takes a full 4 seconds to aim at someone. Bare in mind in the original Deus ex..the AI was half blind and would take a while to notice you in the massive open levels. So it was balanced.

Now in Human revolution the AI will see you in 0.1 seconds from a distance in a restricted area. That same leveling aiming skills mechanic would not work. That said you can't run and gun because the reticles are massive when you move (unless you invest in those augs to reduce reticle spread when moving)...also all guns and machine guns especially, are tricky because the recoil is crazy unless you invest in recoil augs. That is 6 praxis points, which in the early game is a lot..especially when you need the environmental augs

You can eventually get gun attachments that do the aiming and recoil dampening for you though.

Good! DX:HR was a prime example of an excellent game with some rough patches (boss fights, limp ending, etc.). If those could be ironed out and the existing solid mechanics elaborated upon, the resulting game could be glorious indeed. I wouldn't mind a slightly more open game world as well. I'm not talking a cyberpunk Skyrim here (though that wouldn't be bad either), but to take the dash of nonlinearity that DX:HR's areas had and add to it.

I'd rather that they would make an HD remake of the original Deus Ex. There's no game that justifies an HD remake more than it.

New vision Mod..but we really need the black mesa treatment

They need to make the AI better

I killed someone in front of a camera and a patrol route and then I hid. No one cares unless they see the death lol

Fantastic news! About time. More Deus Ex is a GOOD thing. More Adam Jensenn would be better but his story was kinda wrapped up.

Of course Doom has the right of it...would prefer a straight up modern day remake of Deus Ex, though I will add FOR PC. Fuck 7 year old consoles.

I might be over-analysing it, but abbreviate Deus Ex: Human Defiance and you get... Deus Ex HD.

I wouldn´t mind something in the vein of a new Deus Ex game, after i completed it, it dawned on me that there really isn´t that many alternatives at the moment. Bioshock is the closest i got so far.

I hope I'm not in it. I have other stuff to do, you know.
But we need your awesome voice. And what would Pritchard be without you ?

I would love a new Deus Ex. Just finished the Deus Ex HR Missing Link DLC past weekend, was impressed by how well that was done for a DLC. If this new DX is comparable to DX HR or DX1 then i'm all up for it.

I'd find this series more interesting if they chose to explore beyond just cyberpunk. Now hear me out, cyberpunk is awesome but what if we kept going forward? Post cyberpunk? actual scifi, move from transhumanism to posthumanism then all the way to postphysical etc etc.

Obviously it shouldn't happen in one game but what if they did it over four or five games?

I really enjoyed the game for the most part, but the endings ruined the experience for me. I really couldn't care less what they do with it now.
