Pretty sure the golden needle to cure stone is from Japanese folklore.

Althea continues to be my second favourite character of this strip, right after Gunny.

The fifth panel made me think she was casting a spell. But this works too.

EDIT: Also, Althea speaks in Fluttershy's voice to me.

Yeah, I can't help but hear her as Fluttershy. It's the combination of quiet personality and that hair.
