Injustice Dev: "Fan Favorite" DLC Character Coming

NetherRealm Founder Ed Boon says that fans can expect more DLC characters, including a "big" one coming in the future.

While the overall reception to Injustice: Gods Among Us, NetherRealms' DC Universe fighting game, was <a href=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/editorials/reviews/10295-Injustice-Gods-Among-Us-Review-Fights-In-Tights>generally positive, the game didn't leave fans without any complaints. Among the bigger grips expressed by many players was the heavy focus on characters that originated in Batman and Superman stories. It was a complaint that saw little rectification as the developer announced DLC characters which, with the exception of <a href=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/124616-Injustice-Adds-Scorpion-New-DLC-Costumes>Mortal Kombat's Scorpion, again all hailed from the streets of <a href=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/123743-Injustice-Gods-Among-Us-Unveils-Batgirl>Gotham and <a href=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/123602-Lobo-Gives-Batman-The-Finger-In-Debut-Footage>Metropolis.

NetherRealm finally broke this habit <a href=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/125966-Martian-Manhunter-Joins-The-Injustice-Gods-Among-Us-Roster>when it announced recently that Martian Manhunter would be joining Gods Among Us as its next downloadable fighter. According to NetherRealm founder Ed Boon, however, Martian Manhunter is still just the beginning. Responding to a <a href=https://twitter.com/noobde/status/360454142713536512>fan inquiry on Twitter, Boon confirmed that Martian Manhunter "is not the last" DLC character coming to the game. This probably doesn't come as a surprise, given the vast array of DC characters still left out of the roster. That said, Boon would post a second, <a href=https://twitter.com/noobde/status/360454871268331521>arguably more interesting Tweet, just a few minutes later. Responding to another fan about future DLC, he said that a character coming to the game "is a BIG fan favorite request!"

The question forces us to ask, of course, who the heck this "fan favorite" will be? Running on the assumption that NetherRealm won't be adding another Batman/Superman character for at least a little while, there is still a plethora of possible candidates. Personally, I'd love to see Etrigan thrown into the mix, if only because I really enjoyed Demon Knights and was sad to see it cancelled. That said, there are dozens of options for NetherRealm to choose from and more than a few that could arguably qualify as "fan favorites."

Power Girl. At least, I believe it will be. I would love to see Grace Choi, but, it's not gonna happen.

C'mon, Netherrealm devs, how many times to do I have to beg?!

Failing that, I wouldn't mind Alan Scott or Plastic Man.

Calling it right now............Plastic Man

Everyone loves Plastic Man, right?
He would be such a good fit in the game!!

Personally, I'd like to see SWAMP THING make an appearance. Even if it were just as a stage set piece like MM was in the Watchtower. But preferably as a playable fighter.

Come on... its obvious...

I wish for this so so much.

Didn't a leak ages back suggest at it being Martian Man Hunter, Power Girl, Red Hood and Sub Zero for the second season of DLC? I wouldn't put it past them for "BIG" to be a hint at it being Power Girl.

Question: are they actually charging for all these DLC characters? Because it seems like every other week three's a new character getting thrown into the mix...seems to raise the question of "why weren't they in there to begin with?"

Oh well, I don't have the game and don't intend to pick it up. I'm just curious.

Perhaps they weren't complete yet?

Personally I think it should be The Phantasm. If not her than perhaps Dex-Starr the Red Lantern Kitty.

It's probably Power Girl, but I'm praying for Static. I really wanna see him in the game. Hopefully with his old VA too. We need a character that is unabashedly heroic and fun in the roster. Also one that Superman doesn't kill.

Haven't played Injustice, but I did watch some footage and noticed that they got Phil LaMarr to reprise his role as the Green Lantern. In light of him voicing both characters, that much seems doable. I would also enjoy seeing Static again. He's just a cool character with a great design.

Hoping Injustice comes to PC, heard the GOTY edition may be. Anyways I'm not too sure who it could be but many seem keen on PowerGirl.
