Steam Greenlights 15 More Games

Valve has announced the names of 15 more games that have been given the green light on Steam Greenlight.

You know what happens on Friday? Nothing! So let's look at the latest batch of games that have been declared fit to survive in the harsh environs of Steam.

The 7th Guest [http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=126975850&noPreview=1]

Viscera Cleanup Detail [http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=159096666&noPreview=1]
Wayfarer: The Outer Reaches [http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=138262604&noPreview=1]

As always, there are a few in this list that I'm really looking forward to, The Novelist and Satellite Reign being my picks of the litter this time around. The Novelist, which we Syndicate-like [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/124007-The-Novelist-Ghostwrites-a-Tale-of-Love-and-Ambition] Satellite Reign is pretty much the polar opposite: It's all guns and guts in a dystopian cyberpunk future.

The 7th Guest re-release is interesting too, although really just for the memories - I'm not too optimistic about its chances with "modern" gamers and I have a feeling my own recollections will prove very rose-tinted.

Following the usual practice, all the games in the list were selected based on community interest gauged via Greenlight voting, plus "external factors such as press reviews, crowd-funding successes, performance on other similar platforms" and yadda yadda, and all will actually release on Steam in their own good time.

Some of those games look really interesting. Though the game where you play as a janitor cleaning up the mess of a Space Marine's latest shoot out looks like it's more for a laugh than anything else.

And of course, there's zombies and survival horror. There's always zombies and survival horror in Greenlight. Oh well, at least Door Kickers and The Novelist look fresh and interesting.

P.S. Thanks

P.P.S. Still no Freedom Planet... IMO that one looks way better than most of these.

Viscera Cleanup Detail getting on Steam is fantastic. I really hope it does well.

Of the list, Maia is the one I am interested in. Billed as a sort of dwarf-fortress-meets-dungeonkeeper-in-SPAAAACE
its right up my alley.

Wayfarer looks like a 3D don't starve in SPAAAAACE, so I may find that interesting as well.

I started watching the video. I'm amazed that this is a thing.

Really happy that the 7th Guest got green lit, it was one of the first computer games to be on a CD so while the graphics/character acting may not be the best in the world, actually it is funnier now then anything, but the music is still really good and so are the puzzles.

The Dead Linger, WOO WOO! People can say what they want about zombie and survival horror. So few games have gotten it remotely right, we should all be excited that a game is coming around that is trying to do it right. And it's not just another tragic DayZ situation where it devolves into everyone shooting everyone.

There are a few games on that list that I'm interested in, greenlight did have some teething trouble but it seems like it's working to me now.

If I may ask, because I've been interested in the game for a while but haven't really kept up to date, how do they deal with bandit overpopulation?

I've been largely ambivalent towards Greenlight, only venturing in to vote for a game to fulfil that badge requirement, but I'm glad to see that Crashtastic has been given the nod as it seems like a genuinely fun game.

It's saying a lot that not only was Crashtastic appealing enough for me to look beyond the description and actually vote for the game, but also this 'Lets Play' of it is probably the only 'Lets Play' I've ever watched all the way through.

I can't wait to see how many classic, tried and tested vehicle designs I can replicate... then make them shake themselves apart and explode spectacularly by applying far too many rocket boosters.

How they did it will drastically change when it hits Steam Early Access. The bit 010 update will involve the first update on a new engine. They have spent months now, transferring the games 009 update to a whole new engine, it's very exciting. I mean, ultimately the plan is that they will spawn in large areas that are population centers and not so much in the woods or any other form of outlying areas. The last update included multifloored office buildings, there is currently a prison floating around the world. All of these things should change how spawning works depending on the the area. Strangely, they never really had a problem with it from the first alpha build. They changed it and modified it, but it never actually had an issue where it became a problem. Ideally, they wouldn't render anything that can't be seen and the zombies will lose interest shortly after losing line of site.

7 days to die, Satellite Reign look particularly good. Viscera cleanup Detail looks worthy of purchase for the idea alone, that sounds awesome!

Oh goody, another batch dominated by zombie games/ survival horror/ indie wank that doesn't look like it has actual gameplay. If INFRA and The Novelist are the glorious indie future then I pray that AAA doesn't go away. On the plus side Satellite Reign, Strike Vector, and Nekro have some promise. Also yet again, no Shante. Fuck you steam, wayforward is not some tiny unproven dev, why do they even need to go through this Greenlight trash?

I'm gonna watch the videos for Satellite Reign and if it lives up to the comparison to the Syndicate I played in the 90s then I'll be all over that like Jim Sterling on Jonathan Holmes.

Still no Aqua Kitty [http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=93326437&searchtext=Aqua+Kitty] which is a disappointment. Go upvote that shit people. It's a SHMUP with a cat, in a submarine, under water, defending a milk mine.

It's weird to see that Paranormal is just now being greenlit. It popped up quite a while ago if I remember correctly.

All I want to see out of Greenlight is Assault Android Cactus. I've been waiting months to play that game.

How does INFRA not have gameplay? From the videos it looks like a puzzle game with optional "do your job" stuff.
It looks to me very much like Dear Esther but set in implausibly poorly maintained buildings, and IMO Dear Esther was a screensaver with a huge ego. Amnesia did something simialr to INFRA, just it was actually interesting. I play video games to do things I could never do in real life. If I want a mundane job, I can go get a mundane job, I don't need to pay money for the privilege of simulating it.

Unless any game without shooting and women with huge back-breaking tits are suddenly not games anymore.
Are you implying those are in every AAA games, or that they are absent from indie games? You are wrong either way.

Are we really going to crawl back to AAA and consign anything that isn't a shooter to the grave like horror, adventure, and platformers?
Did you miss the part where I was bitching about Shante (a 2D platformer) not getting greenlit? In every single newspost about Greenlight? And besides that I have nothing against horror, I'm just sick of it seemingly being the best way to get greenlit ASAP, whether or not you actually have anything interesting or unique.
