Report: $350 Wind Waker Wii U Bundle All But Confirmed

The bundle will come with a Zelda-themed Wii U.

It's looking more and more like that $350 Wind Waker HD Wii U bundle Destructoid Hero Mode [http://www.destructoid.com/report-wii-u-32gb-with-wind-waker-hd-bundle-coming-259582.phtml] trailer, showing off what certainly appears to be a Zelda-themed Wii U console.

The Hero Mode trailer was only up briefly, as Nintendo quickly pulled it when it realized it preemptively spilled the beans on the new special edition Wii U console. It was re-hosted by a Neogaf user, but now that video also appears to have been taken down. Luckily, we do have a screencap of the supposed console, which you can check out above.

The image shows a black Wii U GamePad with Legend of Zelda styling, looking very similar to the limited edition 25th anniversary Legend of Zelda 3DS [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/114087-Europe-Gets-Exclusive-Zelda-3DS-Bundle] Europe got a couple years ago.

Destructoid [http://www.destructoid.com/report-wii-u-32gb-with-wind-waker-hd-bundle-coming-259582.phtml] originally reported that the Winder Waker HD bundle would set you back $349.99, and include 32GB Deluxe version of the console. They also reported that $200 red and blue 3DS XLs bundled with Pokemon X and Y would be hitting store shelves in October.

We have contacted Nintendo for official confirmation of the bundle, but the evidence suggests that this is most likely a reality.

Is a Zelda-themed console bundle enough to get you to buy a Wii U? Personally, I'm waiting for both a price drop and Smash Bros. before I'd consider getting one, but i'm sure Zelda fans would go crazy for this.

I like themed systems a lot.

Considering how I am teeming with jealousy at Japan for all the cool 3DS XL skins they are being spoiled with.
Would be a great bundle for the Wii U.

I've played Windwaker to completion, but I never owned the game before.

I already bought a WiiU last Christmas, so I have no need for a new one. However, I know this will definitely increase sales if it's officially launched before Christmas Day/Black Ffiday.

If I were ever to get a WiiU I'd probably get this model, it might not be massively different but it looks a bit nicer than plain black. But the price is still a barrier to my desire to purchase a new system.

Wow, that is...

...really not a great deal at all. Nintendo are really sticking to their pricing guns I see.

Well, Wind Waker HD is set to release in October, if that's any indication

id buy it, though im not sure what the real price of a wii u is
The Deluxe Model was $350. This bundle seems to be just like that, except it has Zelda instead of Nintendoland.

I'm conflicted.

I don't want to buy a WiiU because it barely has any games that interest me, but I do want to buy it to relive my very first Zelda game in glorious HD with some new content.

Hmm. I'm thinking it won't be a very good purchase. I'm already planning on picking up Smash Bros. for my 3DS, and some the newer games I already have on PS3. So... yeah.

No. Unless Nintendo wants to give me one or make some more good games, I won't be buying one.

That 3DS package sounds pretty good to me since that's the main reason I'd want to get one for now (there are other games I want for it too, but the new Pokemon takes priority)

October, eh? If I was to get a Wii U, I'd wait for Super Smash Bros. Seeing as my Steam account is overflowing with bargain-bin priced games that I haven't even touched yet, I've got no real reason to cash on a console without a VERY good reason.

If it had been Skyward Sword HD, rather than Wind Waker, I'd have bought it. Not as a comment on the relative quality of the two games, I've just never played Skyward Sword and I want to get around to it some day.

It was the Zelda bundle with OoT and Majora's Mask that made me finally buy a Gamecube. Apparently I buy every other Nintendo console just to be Zelda boxes.

Not at all tempting. Its expensive and theres nothing I want to play on it. Packaged with a game you can play on a cheaper console that most of the gaming population already own?

This Wind Maker package smells like desperation.

As far as I'm concerned, you're not missing much at all. It's the first Zelda that I've actively hated. There are some good points about it to be sure, but I don't play Zelda games to be treated like a brain-dead retard. Aside from Zelda II, I've played, completed, and loved every other Zelda game that was made by Nintendo. And I don't hate Zelda II, it just isn't what I want to play.

The game contains FMVs of Link completing side quests so you never have to figure anything out for yourself. You can choose to not use them, but the quest I discovered this feature on involved a time limit and finding someone whom was only referred to by name. Without the video, I had no idea who I was supposed to reach within the time limit, and it was a good 3-5 minutes to get back to the start of the quest just to reset.

OT: I've been debating about a Wii U for some time. This might be the excuse to get one, even if I don't play it much.

As someone who bought a Wii U on release for $400, this is bullshit.

But I understand that it's necessary.
400$? You got ripped off somewhere, man. The WiiU has never, ever been 400$ (Officially). It's always been 299$ for the 8 gigs and 349$ for the 32 gig with NintendoLand.

Yeah, like the other guy said.

Where do you live?

Because you just got ripped off big time. Unless of course, you bought more than one game with your Wii U purchase.

Welp, said this in the others news thread that if there was gonna be a unique style to the console or Gamepad that tables were going to be flipped. This is what happens when you decide to buy a Wii U Deluxe early at full price it seems. Damn you gaming gods!

Now if you'll excuse me:

I guess the lesson here is don't buy something to support a company until they reveal their "special" version of whatever it is you wanna buy. >.>
