1 In 7 Of You Bought 2 Copies of GTA V

Will you be selling your extra copy at a profit?

Thanks to DeliveryQuoteCompare.com the world now knows just how many of you preordered Grand Theft Auto V, only to rush out to the shops and buy a copy as soon as it hit the shelves. Of the 1,123 UK gamers polled in DeliveryQuoteCompare.com's survey, 14% - or 1 in 7 - of you just had to see Trevor go nuts and kill bikers. Impatience was the number one reason for getting a second copy - 74% of you said you just couldn't wait - and most of the people who couldn't wait stood in line at a midnight launch to get a copy.

Most of the folks who ended up with two copies intended to return it and get a refund, but 32% figured they could sell it on to some other gamer. Most of those who thought they could sell it, think they can make a profit if they sell it right now, due to high demand. Some of these folks had preordered several months in advance, and most of them admitted that their preorders arrived on time. On time just wasn't good enough; they had to get their fix. Only 28% claimed time delay as their reason for wanting a second copy. "It's easy for people to think 'well what's one more day'," commented Daniel Parry of DeliveryQuoteCompare.com, "but if you've been anticipating something keenly then one more day seems a long, long time. Especially so if you've booked it off work!"

So if you were wondering how GTA V achieved its billion-dollar-sales [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/128014-Grand-Theft-Auto-V-Breaks-1-Billion-In-Three-Days], now you know; for a lot of you, it was a case of 'SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!' Even if your money had already been taken.

Am I the only one who thinks this is kinda sad? I mean shelling out twice for the same product out of impatience is... I dunno, saying something bad about consumer mentality or whatever.

Two more copies than I bought as well. Really I don't like the GTA series that much though. I was that weird kid who on launch day was in line getting the reprint of the Metroid Prime Trilogy for the Wii since I never had it. Would've gotten Xenoblade and Radiant Dawn as well but I didn't want to pay an arm and a leg for it. Wish it had the tin case, but at least I'll have it.

Perhaps my friends got extra copies and may give one to me for Christmas since I love receiving games as gifts. :D

You've made the better purchase. Anyone that ever said that the Wii couldn't be a hardcore gaming platform has never played this. I would place it above Mario Galaxy for the Shining Jewel of Nintendo award.

Pre-ordered mine off ozgameshop.com and it still hasn't arrived.

Think if I had the money, I wouldn't have gone and found the cheapest possible place to order it from...

I don't have any copies, it just doesn't interst me that much. If I had $100 to spend on a spare game I would get the last of us first, probably get this when it's on a pc steam sale

Went in to buy mine on the day from Blockbuster here in the UK, got told they were sold out but was able to pre-order for as soon as they arrive in. Still waiting.

So yeah, thank you to those dickheads who doubled up! :p

I'm still waiting until my next paycheck. I was disinterested, what with not having cared for Grand Theft Auto IV, until I saw a Let's Play of V and just fell in love with the writing and characters. Of course, since I thought I wouldn't want it, I didn't budget for it and now I can't afford it until Monday.

Game developers, take note: I am purchasing the game based on what I saw in a monetized Let's Play. I'm fairly certain I'm not the only one, either. Thanks for not being like Nintendo about this.

P.S. Thanks

I don't understand, how do people buy 2 copies of a game out of "impatience", does buying 2 copies let you play it faster somehow? I mean what is the second copy for?

Oh and 0/2. In fact I've never owned a GTA game. I find the series somewhat retarded.

It sounds like people have pre-ordered it for release day, but when it's not arrived at their house early enough in the day, they've gone out and bought a copy from a store.

I'm another 1 of the 1s that doesn't have it. Sorely tempted to buy a console for it though...

My girlfriend's brother bought a copy which I'm more than likely going to buy off of him in the next week or three so out of the three people in the house that use one of the 2 PS3's, I've only got...one...yeah...

So they Rockstar was rewarded for failing to deliver the preordered games on time (thus defeating the point of preordering, which was stupid to begin with) by selling hundreds of millions of extra game copies?

Please excuse me while I go vomit.

These people shouldn't be allowed around money ever again. As someone who waits years to buy games this doesn't compute with me whatsoever. All I can say is I hope these people learn from their lesson and never preorder a game ever again.

I suppose that balances out the fact that I own 0 copies. I'll wait for the steam sale. GTA4 burned up a lot of goodwill.

And now you see one of the many reasons a publisher claiming "fastest selling, most successful media launch ever!" means next to nothing to me anymore.

Consumers have become incredibly stupid and gullible.

Even worse, the big publishers know it and are not above abusing it. Even in woefully blatant ways.
