also kinda odd that the Escapist didn't pick up on it either being a rather geeky celebration

What do you mean 'will be'? It happened 13mins ago (presuming it is also GMT).

well yes it passed but will be is the correct phrase

for more info on unix time http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unix_time

unix time is the reason the internet didn't have a meltdown on dec 31 1999, most of the servers use unix time and not 32 bit windows time

nope will be, it's still correct to say will be
Quoted from the wiki you posted:
On February 13, 2009 at exactly 23:31:30 (UTC), Unix time was equal to '1234567890'.

they wrote it as "was" and i wrote it as "will be" that doesn't prove anything, heck i could go edit wikipedia to say "will be" if i wanted and then i'd be even more correct. it's not like they've ever had bad english and grammar

I think you misunderstand. I'm not implying that it is grammatically incorrect, merely temporally incorrect.

Someone finally touched upon this. I was celebrating it. I had a internet countdown runing and was screen sharing over ichat with a friend. It was cool though i didnt manage to get a screenshot.

Its unfortunate that this was cleverly made up...(har har har)
