Other than that, nobody likes questioning the one boss that can not only fire you, but could potentially kill you because it says so in the fine print of the contract that everyone had to sign, anyway...

How boned would the gang have been if he did call and ask about the corpse thing? A whole lot of would be heroes would have been halted if only the guards would do their damn job. Nameless henchmen are so useless.

Nah, they just rolled natural twenty on their bluff (or close enough. Those uniforms, especially doctor uniform worn by a healer, must give some bonuses to bluff. That corpse helps too.) If they failed their roll, they would have fought full room of high level guards, turning this into suicide mission. If they fail any of the bluff checks for the next few rooms over, expect fighting elite guards.
In fact, depending on game design, it is still possible that the mission they're on doesn't contain stealth ending and ends with "Extra hard Boss fight, while said Boss is using your friends as his minions" sort of thing. And "Erin and Co" didn't do the neccessary grinding for that and are thus hopelessly underleveled and under-equiped.
