Sorry, Wii U Owners, no Watch Dogs DLC For You

Ubisoft confirmed that its upcoming Bad Blood DLC for Watch Dogs won't be coming to the Wii U.

Poor Wii U owners. After a lengthy delay, and even this Fall [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/131608-Update-Rumor-Ubisoft-Cancels-Wii-U-Version-of-Watch-Dogs]. And now, if that almost half-year delay wasn't a big enough slap in the face for you, Ubisoft has announced that the Wii U version of the game won't even be getting DLC.

During a live-stream event for Watch Dogs' upcoming single-player Bad Blood DLC, the official Watch Dogs Twitter account responded to a query regarding the DLC's availability on Wii U. It said, rather definitively, "No, the Wii U version will not have the DLC."

While this isn't confirmation that the platform will not be seeing any DLC for Watch Dogs, we can probably safely assume this will be the case. Certainly bad news for Wii U fans who have been patiently waiting for the game, to hear that they will have an "incomplete" version.

This kind of thing isn't without precedent, either. Back in January Warner Bros. announced that it was cancelled all support of the console entirely [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/131851-Batman-Arkham-Origins-DLC-Cancelled-on-Wii-U].

This kind of thing really isn't helping the "Nintendo sucks with third-party games," image that people have of the company...

Eh, if you have a Wii U (and I bought one when Xenoblade X was confirmed) then you have to realize it is a horrible cross platform console. You're in it for the exclusives. Like MK8, Xenoblade, Bayonetta 2, Splatoon, Super Mario 3D World, etc. And I'm okay with that - I knew when I bought it that Ubisoft was a lost cause already.

I'm sure there are still some really dedicated Wii U people who are REALLY ANGRY about this, because the hardcore Wii U guys are scary, but I think anyone sane just expects it at this point, and doesn't care. Watchdogs and Origins ended up being mediocre and not worth crying about, but if you care about the cross platform stuff (say Assassin's Creed Unity) you've got another machine. That's the PC for me.

So, to recap:
The joke of a game comes to the joke of a console like several months late and doesn't even have (the joke of a) DLC.

So...two games that weren't very good aren't being supported on the WiiU?

Yeah...

Maybe, if/when some GOOD games come out and the WiiU isn't getting any kind of support...
Then I'll care.

And then we'll be hearing reports and reports from Ubisoft about how AAA third party games don't do well on the console and blame Nintendo for everything. While most of us will know the real reason why the game would flop on the Wii U; Ubisoft's inability to work on, properly code, and release a game on time.

Rayman Legends. Though to be fair it was supposed to be exclusive to the WiiU.

And sold most on the WiiU, this is even with some users not buying it because of the move to multiplatform. Some of the other platforms it released on ended up being pointless to port to :p

I think everyone expected this, the no dlc thing is a given nowadays, and with the late release we can expect effectively a stealth release. In 3 months time a report with come out saying about how it sold badly and everyone will blame Nintendo (despite Ubisoft screwing up quite badly, it will be nintendos fault :p)

And the self fulfilling prophecy will continue!

Can't wait for Ubisoft to blame the WiiU owner for not buying a objectively inferior port for a higher price! Damn those Wii U owners. How do they dare not to buy this inferior shit we give them much later than on any other console, with less content and for a higher price?

And people will find a way to turn this around and make it look like Nintendo or its fans are the bad guys for not rewarding shoddy support. Ubisoft, and most 3rd parties as a whole, were NEVER serious about supporting Nintendo, no matter how successful they were. You only need to look at 3DS support to see how insufferably stupid they are. I don't know what it is, but it seems every time 3rd parties do something for Nintendo, any logic, reason, or common sense is dropped and they become complete morons incapable of understanding even the most basic things. Seriously, why would anyone willingly seek out 3rd parties when they pull this kind of crap? It seems like a waste of time, energy, and money that can be better spent elsewhere.

Lmao, the final nail. I am so done with most AAA developers anyway, I am more than happy to have my Wii U and 3DS just for fun games and first party titles that I can't get anywhere else.

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha who will be playing this when smash 4 and omega ruby hits the sales floor. I also figured most people already have it on other platforms. It's sad news for those who do care but I personally find it of little loss considering the games being released in the next 3 months.

It got old pointing this out back in early 2013 but when your reason for not supporting a console is that, "it hasn't sold enough" and your action turns into, "put out an inferior product for the system that isn't selling well", then you can't really expect that product to be the one to sell the console. I still have my fingers crossed that Watch_Dogs will be in print for the Wii U version long enough to go down to less than $20 like what happened with Splinter-Cell Blacklist and, Deus Ex HR-DX. I'm still getting W_DU but I'm not even a $60-customer for Ubisoft.

If DLC wasn't a "thing" to begin with, we would look forward to complete, finished games being ported instead of incomplete, year-late messes.

Okay, why are they even putting it on the Wii U any more? They are making every move they possibly can to make it the worst version, for no really conceivable reason. Anyone who wanted it already beat it months ago, and it's been delayed between Smash and Bayonetta 2. I'm convinced they want it to sell as poorly as possible so they can use those numbers to 'justify' ditching support for the Wii U, because there's no way they're acting this stupid on purpose.

You know Bayonetta 2 is bombing and will be a bigger failure than Watch Dogs on Wii U? Ain't know one scared of going up against that game.

Well then, I guess I'm not buying any of the DLC. Personally I'm not that bothered, I doubt that I am missing much.

It also released in Japan the same week as Smash Bros on 3DS. That's poor marketing.

As much as I have zero interest in any Nintendo consoles as of 10 years now almost, talk about your self fulfilling proficiencies. Granted, even titles that Nintendo invested in ain't doing so flash, ergo Bayonetta 2.
