Commander Shepard Comes to Life in Epic Mass Effect Cosplay

Cosplayer Freya Willia spent two years crafting an epic recreation of the female Shepard's battle armor from Mass Effect 3.

While gamers, in general, had oodles of issues with the ending to Mass Effect 3, probably the most consistent complaint was that it just wasn't a worthy close for a protagonist as awesome <a href=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/133659-Its-Commander-Shepards-Birthday-In-140-Years>as Commander Shepard. <a href=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/tag/view/bioware>Bioware, of course, would go on to patch the ending, adding in content to try and rectify the injustice perpetrated against everyone's favorite Spectre. Sadly, even with the ending expanded, many were still leftfeeling disappointed. Luckily for them, the world contains people like Freya Willia to help cheer them up with her incredible cosplay.

Willia, in a set of pictures posted to her Punished Props. As a finishing touch, she then constructed her own omni-blade from plastic. The costume overall took her nearly two years to complete.

We feel safe in saying that the end result was definitely worth the work. Willia's take on Commander Shepard looks almost uncannily like the default female character as portrayed in <a href=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/zero-punctuation/5497-Mass-Effect-3>Mass Effect 3. In fact, we'd go so far as to say that some of her images could almost be mistaken for official promotional materials if you didn't already know what you were looking at. If you'd like to learn more about Willia's construction process, you can check out <a href=http://www.therpf.com/f24/femshep-n7-armor-valkyrie-rifle-omniblade-mass-effect-3-a-159296/?highlight=femshep>this forum thread here. In the mean time, take a look at her work and let us know what you think.

I've seen quite a few cosplays of Shepard but this one is definitely one of the most impressive so far.

Well, color me impressed. It's pretty clear she put a lot of time and effort into it...

Holy crap that armour is amazing.

This might be the first time I've seen video game aesthetics applied to a real person and still look good.

She lass wearing it even looks the part.

Holy cow. The level of detail and dedication...I can't even begin to imagine. This girl is amazing. Someone give her a job in the costume and props department if she wants one. Just...wow.

Carnifex and Valkyrie? Lol nooob!
Ok, seriously now: I am not really into cosplay, but this is just amazing! This woman has some serious craftmenship and a really good eye for detail and colour. Many costumes look as if they were leftovers from the last carnival parade, but this looks like a real military grade body armor!

That's just insane, wow!

It's not an exact match, but I guess that is partly because the armor in the game would not work right in RL considering all the movement it has to allow you to do.
Also, I actually like the real one more it looks very good, not to mention she also has a body/look that is so close to femshep that it's almost hard to believe.

As it is one of my favorite armors from any game to date I am totally blown away by this, well done!

If I had to pick at anything it would be the choice of weapons, personally I would have gone with the Mattock or the Black Widow with a paladin sidearm (which is basically the same gun just white).

...hey, what the space-hell's wrong with those? The N7 Valkyrie, in particular, kicks all kinds of ass. It's probably my favourite AR in ME3.

Freya's cosplay kicks ass, as well, but that's a given.

I like it but for most classes I play it's too damn heavy.

OT: Great googly moogly that is fucking incredible.

I was at Motorcity Comicon last year and ran into a duo of Shepards in full-on N7 armor. The Manshep was in classic black with an Avenger rifle, and Femshep was is sky blue with a Paladin. They looked amazing, but I don't think they made the armor themselves. This is truly impressive. The fact that this young lady could have been the face model for default Femshep just makes it even cooler.

Shit that is cool, but I'm forever spoiled on SPASH MAREANS! cosplay by this guy:

OT: Yeah, loving it, that's badass. The attention to detail is excellent, and I concur with Rattja that the small changes are an improvement and make much more sense given she does actually need to move around it.

Think that beats out the Femshep cosplay that was in Comic Con 4: A Fans Hope and that was really, really good. However, they did also build a functioning Grunt anamatronic that would make the guys from Jim Henson proud in their garage. Get em working on stuff together I say! It's criminal that there are people this talented building stuff of this calibur in their garages on their own, while big studios insist on using dodgy CGI to ill effect.
