Super Meat Boy in Smash Bros.? Team Meat Says "Make it Happen!"

Team Meat has rallied its fans to get Super Meat Boy voted into Super Smash Bros.

When EarthBound's Lucas was announced as love to see fan-favorite Banjo-Kazooie [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/140323-Lucas-Announced-as-Smash-Bros-4-DLC] in the game, and now, Super Meat Boy's Team Meat is rallying its fans to vote the titular Meat Boy in.

The team even made this super-cool mock-up image showing Meat Boy squaring off against Megaman, which you can check out to the right. "This would be pretty amazing..." said the dev via Twitter [https://twitter.com/SuperMeatBoy/status/584544923250065408], "make it happen. Go vote!"

For those of you worrying that you're "wasting your vote" by voting for a third-party character, a Nintendo representative recently stated [http://mynintendonews.com/2015/04/05/nintendo-of-america-representative-says-any-video-game-character-is-eligible-for-super-smash-bros/] that all suggestions would be considered - even non-Nintendo characters.

While Meat Boy would be a pretty awesome addition to the Smash Bros. roster, I can't help but feel there are some better choices that should come before him. Bayonetta, and Travis Touchdown, for example, would be amazing.

Sorry, but I already put my indie vote toward Lilac from Freedom Planet. Not only do I like that game better, but I don't think Meat Boy could be made to work in Super Smash Bros. without changing him far too much from how he plays in his own games.

Considering that Super Meat Boy is not on any Nintendo console, I highly doubt they could even take him. Heck, Isaac (from The Binding of Isaac) has a better chance of getting on Smash Bros then Meat Boy.

So... what exactly does Meat Boy do that could make him a good Smash Bros character? All he does is jump really high; he doesn't have power-ups, he doesn't have any attacks, he doesn't defeat enemies... They made Pac-Man, ROB the Robot, and Duck Hunt into fighters, so I guess anything is possible, but... I'm just not seeing it here.

Then again, he did have a guest appearance in Rayman Legends, so I suppose he could learn some of their combat moves...

I already voted for Tetra, and I'm sticking to Shantae as my #2, but Meat Boy would be a good addition to the roster. Getting more third party characters in one place, especially those still alive and kicking, would be a great reminder of all the franchises out there that haven't succumbed to the grimdarkening. Klonoa is an obvious and common write-in, so is Isaac from Golden Sun, but I think the likes of Abe from Oddworld to the cast of Thomas Was Alone and maybe even Faith from Mirror's Edge (parkour specialist, maybe rides on popularity of ME2) could all make good cast members as well. There's a lot out there, some of it getting a revival.

Tetra is an excellent idea, hadn't considered her. A perfect counterpoint to Toon Link though.

hmm well there goes hopes of putting DR.Robotnik/shadow the hedgehog/bass/protoman in. eh maybe try one of the golden sun characters maybe get them reboot a dead series. cause we really no need more pokemon in the game unless they bring pichu back.

Get Conker the Squirrel up in this game! I wanna see him offer Samus $100 to make out with Zelda, smack Yoshi in the nuts with a spiked baseball bat, and then press B to get drunk and take a piss on all the characters.

If someone makes it into the game before Bayonetta, I'm gonna have to beat some meat (outta someone). Of all the characters who could make it in, there is no better fit and likely no one who deserves it more than Bayonetta.

Y'know, SMB is a good game, and all... But I don't really think the E-10 SSB needs a character that leaves little puddles of gore behind him wherever he goes and is most known for gruesomely dying.

Even Bayonetta would be easier to make a SSB-friendly version of than Meat Boy.

This cute cat creature have a similar ability like Megaman: She can copy the abilities of her enemies. But not only that. She can also combine these stolen abilities and create new ones.

If there's an indie character that definitely deserves to be on Smash Bros, it's Shovel Knight. (That's who I voted for by the way.)
It just makes sense; it's a character that is essentially based on old nintendo IP's and has seen actual success on Nintendo consoles.
