Sorry been holding a torch for Lloyd Irving since Brawl. He already plays like a smasher.

Though I can see Meatboy making it in far easier than Banjo m'fraid. Banjo has that past with Nintendo. Meatboy is just kinda... indie and out there. And if snake is appropriate for Smashbrothers I don't want to even hear about how inappropriate super meatboy is.

While we are on the topic of Rare characters, I could like to give my two suggestions:

It's Predator, but he's a robot.
What else do you need?

I could see her having an interesting play style, using gadgets and guns against her rivals.
And if you want to get cheeky, could give her a Alt Skin that gives her a "Goldeneye" :p

Yeah, Shovel Knight is a much better potential inclusion than Meat Boy... although I will be happy to see either.

However, I voted for Simon Belmont. Simon done in similar style to the Fire Emblem characters while still being "gothic" would work I think - and he deserves to be included due to the many Castlevania games on Nintendo systems. He could be considered more "violent" in his attacks, with throwing a knife and an axe, but I guess that isn't any worse than swords. Attacks would be easy - neutral A - whip. side A - dash. down B - holy water. side B - cross/boomerang. neutral B - knife. up B - axe? - or up A? Or maybe a simple heart mechanic and down B switches sub weapons with hearts regulating spamming of heavier attacks (like having 5 hearts that regenerate and axes and crosses take 3-5 each while knifes and holy water take 1-2 each)?

I've said it before and I'll say it again. One of the goddamned Belmonts.

Konami have already had a character (Snake) in a Smash game, get another one in there too!

I went straight to voting for Shantae. I've got a lot of love for that platforming half-genie hero!

Maybe I'm just biased as a backer of their upcoming game, but I really want to see her get some more attention and I think having her in Smash would really be great for her.

Is putting Bayonetta such a good idea in a (primarily) kids' game? She's sex on stilts.
She could make an interesting fighter, but I agree that she doesn't really fit. I mean, they had to remove tharja as a trophy, I doubt they could get away with Bayonetta.

Instead people should be shooting for Wonder Red. He would be just as good and fits in perfectly with smash bros.

They gave Samus a skin tight suit and heels in a game where you can pause and zoom right the hell in on her ass if you so choose. Bayonetta isn't such a stretch, especially since they can clearly alter costumes to show and hide whatever they deem fit.

I've heard this argument before, but Samus is Space Girl Scout, not Witch That Attacks With Sex. Everything from Bayo's design to her dialogue, movements and attacks screams sex. And the original games already "hide whatever they deeem fit". It's not what they're showing, it's what they're explicitly suggesting in the most ostentacious way possible. If you take away that from Bayo, you're taking away a key component of the character, which is her sexuality and how she uses it. She's as natural a fit in Smash Bros. as Agent 47.

You know who'd make a great addition to Smash? Conker!
Get Conker the Squirrel up in this game! I wanna see him offer Samus $100 to make out with Zelda, smack Yoshi in the nuts with a spiked baseball bat, and then press B to get drunk and take a piss on all the characters.

Come on Nintendo! Take a chance!

Captcha: push the edge. See, this guy gets it.
Unfortunately, microsoft owns him too. Sorry to burst your bubble.

OT: I doubt meatboy would make it, what with the gore and all but I'd be down with that.

Y'know, SMB is a good game, and all... But I don't really think the E-10 SSB needs a character that leaves little puddles of gore behind him wherever he goes and is most known for gruesomely dying.

Even Bayonetta would be easier to make a SSB-friendly version of than Meat Boy.
Right? everyone seems to forget that, everyone!

They'd need to change the rating of smash and we all know Nintendo is not gonna do that.

I think Nintendo would love to have a character who is constantly dripping blood
I remember reading - here, I think - about someone whose little girl plays Super Meat Boy and called the blood "sauce". He's made of meat, so who's to say it's not tomato sauce? Nintendo could say it is, and all will be fine... yes...

I already voted for Tetra, and I'm sticking to Shantae as my #2, but Meat Boy would be a good addition to the roster. Getting more third party characters in one place, especially those still alive and kicking, would be a great reminder of all the franchises out there that haven't succumbed to the grimdarkening. Klonoa is an obvious and common write-in, so is Isaac from Golden Sun, but I think the likes of Abe from Oddworld to the cast of Thomas Was Alone and maybe even Faith from Mirror's Edge (parkour specialist, maybe rides on popularity of ME2) could all make good cast members as well. There's a lot out there, some of it getting a revival.
Tetra is an excellent idea, hadn't considered her. A perfect counterpoint to Toon Link though.
I chose her because a) we already have Toon Link, and b) she is the most unique iteration of Zelda. I mean, every Link has been pretty similar to each other when it comes to potential moveset, but Tetra is miles apart from any other Zelda when it comes to combat prowess, and lastly c) he's also my favourite because whereas other Zelda's clearly do have principles, Tetra has some principles as well as loads of personality to boot. I think if we were exposed to Zelda in the TLoZ series more before she got kidnapped we'd have a stronger connection with them. Hell, they could take a page out of the handbook from one of the Fire Emblem games, The Sacred Stones, where the two main characters split up on their own individual martial campaigns and reunited for the third act of the game. In the game, you could play as both, and while I wouldn't expect that in a TLoZ game, it would get rid of the damsel in distress criticisms while giving the player an open line of communication with her, albeit through messengers, and actually give her the capacity to actually do something for most of the game. Locking somebody away in a tower until the last twenty minutes is not exactly good character development.
That's an excellent point about Tetra. Toon Link is just Link, but Tetra could have a much more varied moveset than Zelda herself.

I would play a Zelda game featuring Zelda herself. I'd play one where they split up, as well. Sacred Stones was a great game, though I'm not sure that's exactly the way I'd like them to go. They didn't really split up all that much so much as Hector's story was just Eli's from his point of view.
