The Joker Confirmed as Playable in Injustice 2, New Trailer

The Clown Prince of Crime is making his return as a playable character in Injustice 2, as you can see in this new trailer.

As you've probably guessed from all the rumblings and leaks this week, Joker is returning as a playable character in Injustice 2. NetherRealm confirmed this today, and released a new trailer that shows off some of Joker's moves and special abilities.


Some of those moves look kind of familiar from the last Injustice game, like the explosives, but that special finisher with the electric chair is awfully...involved. It's also interesting to see him wielding a knife this time around.

Injustice 2 is coming to PS4 and Xbox One on May 16.

No, it is just a cherry of bad choices. Plus I mean, you arent exactly someone to criticize someone for being skeptical.

As for the gameplay, 1 was mediocre. It felt like a knock-off Mortal Kombat...minus a block button. I get that it is a side game or whatever, but MKX was so good.

And seriously, add a block button. Holding back to block sucks.

Is it odd that I feel some sort of not-quite-guilty-pleasure interest in this new Joker design? Makes me think that he's gotten brain-damaged so badly that he's trying hard to relive his teenage years with his new antics. The fact that they didn't commit fully to this new design and give him a new voice to boot kind of makes me sad, but I understand why. Faux-Hamill or Horrible Ratings, pick your poison.

To me, the whole design just screams 'guy who's obsessed with the way he almost died' and tried to keep the exact look he had at the brink of death, which is something Joker would probably do for fun. Sure, it doesn't quit line up perfectly with his original Regime universe attire, but c'mon, that's just a retcon away and a quick "how we got here" scene of a fist through the chest/stomach from being plausible.

God, I hope more effort to reflecting the worn down look vocally is given in the story mode, at least. He's got to show up so it'd be quite a waste to not show us this lovable maniac at his lowest point when he finally paid for a joke going too far.

To be fair, so was Jared Leto's lame version from Suicide Squad. Also as much as I enjoy Injustice 1, even its character designs were one of the biggest weaknesses imo.

And all I have to say to any of this, is fuck you DCEU. It's bad enough your characters and designs are shit, but now it's bleeding into everything else. At the very least Leto's Joker looked like an adult. A adult in his 50's pretending to be 20-something, but an adult none the less. This Joker looks like he's taking fashion advice from emo loving teens.
