Video game logic, duh. Toss a fire-ball at any building made of wood in Skyrim, and see what doesn't happen.

Most games can't give the player that freedom unless destruction is itself the goal. In something Like GTA you can drive any number of 747s into skyscrapers and they will still merely explode on some invisible force field and leave every las glass pane intact.

Casting meteor indoors seems like a really bad idea for obvious reasons.

We're in a JRPG, anything is possible. Including calling a meteor attack indoor without any damage to anything other than the intended target.

Ditto. Healer going rogue in front of the biggest baddy and his army? As badass as it is, she is either going to turn into crystal or get a crystal arm through the heart since the heroes are staring to drop in number. I'm too familiar with damsel-in-distress cliches.

Oh, and Rad, sweetie, don't worry! In some RPGs it's great to have two (or more!) wizards! What you'll want to do it specialise in something other than fire. How about lightning? Lightning is cool, right?
