Now Introducing: The Escapist's Anime Reviews

The Escapist is broadening its horizons with reviews of those crazy Japanese TV shows - you know, the ones with schoolgirls and giant robots and stuff.

You may have noticed that last week, we had some reviews going up that fare [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/editorials/reviews/anime/6159-Anime-Review-Heroic-Age-Part-1].

So, now we at The Escapist are pleased to formally open up our Reviews [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/editorials/reviews/anime] page, where the bottom row will be the six most recent anime reviews. Like the rest of our content, our anime reviewer team is committed to still bringing you the best in cultural journalism ... only with a focus on those wacky cartoons from across the Pacific.

In keeping with Escapist company policy, we will only be reviewing titles officially released in the United States - but there are still plenty of those.

Stay tuned for more reviews to come! Because hey, anime has something for everyone. Like giant mecha. Everyone likes giant mecha.

You'll only review anime that's licensed in North America? That doesn't seem too helpful. :S I wanna know about all the crazy generic robots and demons and samurais and dead people animes going on now over there!

That is correct, for a number of reasons I'm going to leave up to poor Mr. Funk to explain. If I have the time/inclination, I may review some non-licensed materials off-the-record but I wouldn't count on it. I'm almost always busy.

It's basically like naruto if it were good. It's shorter, so it has good animation and pacing, the character designs are genuinely creative and their personalities are diverse. But it's still very much a shonen action show. Even if a very good one.

As long as they do a good one for the Valkyria Chronicles Anime I'm fine with this. If they don't.... Well it doesn't bare thinking about.

He'd kill himself. Besides, you won't find any shortage of hate even amongst anime fans. The Air Gear review should prove that much, and I'm pretty sure my coming review will as well.

Just without the Australian accent.

Funi's already licensed it if I recall. They're supposed to start releasing sometime later this year. So maybe eventually.

Thanks for that heads up. I'll keep an eye peeled for it down the line. I generally pick up new releases on a weekly basis anyways.
