Holy shit, that must mean that half the population of the US are murderers in waiting. Right?

I mean videogames are obviously the most evil thing in modern society, by 2012 we'll all be cannibals.

170 million Gamers: 307 million Americans.

Gentlemen, I believe we now own 55% of America. It's time to rise and eliminate all those who stand against us.
Mentelgen, our day has come.

This is where we fight!
This. Is where they. Die!

I don't know about you, but the number 170 million still seems a bit bloated...

I mean when we refer to "Americans playing games" what level of dedication did they measure? Those Americans who play a game once a week? Or those Americans who played Halo one time when they went over their cousins house a month ago...

If the 170 million figure were true, I would think the gaming industry would be doing a lot better than it is right now. And that developers would be living the good life...

Of course...maybe the figure considers those playing flash games on their pc's "gamers"...
That's all addressed in the OP, methinks?

Yeah, but the definition of a game seems to be getting broader and broader. Maybe 100million just whap out their talkies every so often and play five minutes of Snake.

Its not that its all noticeable gamers that makes it so big, a lot of people may not even look it. If you casually play a computer game, AKA you *only* own Peggle for instance, you'd show up as a gamer here, and thats what that top 33 million people is going to be. When you deal with the big name games on the other hand, you're going to see a pretty small number of them in terms of people playing them when compared to other demographics here.

Article Quote: "The smallest section would be the "Extreme Gamers," who put in a whopping 40 hours per week. That's like working a 9-to-5 job, only... with videogames."

There we go everyone, we are now not a minority in our countries in general...we are a minority of gamers...

170 million in America alone huh? Think of how many there are worldwide. O_O

The rise of the gamers has come. May the non-believers bow before us and be in awe of our powers for we shall soon rule the world.
