Great. Now I can feel old because I don't want to hump a fake turkey head on a stick.

Fantasy is fantasy, we've seen attraction to fantasy icons since the first great painters. Many used models, but still portrayed their subjects in an idealized fashion. The end result being non-existant. This is simply an extention of that. Erotic video games allowing people who like the art to sort of experience their own "Galatea" (a story which kind of captures the essence of what we're discussing).

I digress however, I've found within the industry and fan base of video games there is a tendency to knock men. "Humping The Invisible Turkey" indeed. Consider that women are worse about this and have probably been at it longer than men are. Romance novels feature the same kind of idealized eye candy on the covers (totally fictitious) and of course there is the exploding genere of "Paranormal Romance" which covers everything from novels, to comics. Anne Rice being one of the pioneers of the genere,

Basically people would be surprised how much men and women also overlap with their tastes. The big differance being in homosexuality. Men being mostly interested in heterosexual and lesbian material, where women tend to be interested in it every possible way including gay men (gay vampire porn being a stereotypical staple of a lot of women's fantasy novels).

That said, it's all about escapism and vicarious wish fulfillment. As long as you don't confuse fantasy and reality, there isn't an issue.

As far as things like "Red Light District" goes, I've kind of felt that they should take that technology and insert it into a regular MMORPG and create a true adult experience.

Despite how some of my posts might sound (since I'm disscussing ideas and concepts) I'm not into non-stop adult material. I do however feel it can add to an experience however, and frankly I'd get bored with a graphical chat mode with sex animations (which is why I don't subscribe to any). However if such things were added as a side element of an otherwise normal MMORPG it would be amazing. It would give you something to do in your player dwellings or whatever. For the anti-social sex mobs contrlled by the computer (Conan-esque sex slaves you can do things to) could be included as part of the package so you could go play around with the sex animations and such without other people if need be.

Adding the abillity to capture sex slaves (gor style), collect sex toys, costumes, and torture devices, and similar things thrown into an MMORPG enviroment that also has all the other stuff would be another front to keep people occupied and keep them playing longer.

It's not just men that get off to sexy members of the opposite sex. Look how many women swoon over Edward from those damn Twilight books.

And Battle Raper? As if we needed another reason to be scared of the Japanese.

Hiroshi, you make some good points there. The images of 'fantasy women' doesn't only affect guys, but girls too, sometimes with disastrous effects.
I don`t get it. What`s "disastrous" about it ?

Girls are being surrounded with images of 'the perfect and sexy woman'. It becomes a standard (it is already an industry standard). However, no one can achieve this standard. Women don't always feel like being sexy. But that is the modern image that is displayed everywhere of how they should be.

... and there's nothing at all wrong with that. If a guy wants to masturbate to pixels, it's a whole lot less harmful than almost any other activity. Heck, it's even less harmful than masturbating over real porn - with hentai at least you know that no-one was forced into prostitution in order to make the image.
Forced? Except in the cases of the most extreme websites, I think not. Even then, I think not.
If you see a girl on a website doing porn, she's most likely being paid quite well.
My point was not that porn is always forced - it isn't except, as you say, in the most extreme cases. My point was that the POTENTIAL is there for abuse. With Hentai, there's a certainty that no one is being prostituted.

Somehow I think you're confusing me with a hater-of-porn. Heck, I love porn. I was just trying to say that there's nothing wrong with getting excited about pixels. To each his own.
