Direct2Drive's Anniversary Sale is Ridiculous
Do you like cheap PC games? Do you like lots of cheap PC games? In honor of its fifth anniversary, digital distribution service Direct2Drive is offering tons of PC titles for just $5 apiece.
Something I always like about Steam is its weekly sales. Oh sure, sometimes that means I end up dropping $30 on three games I'll never end up playing, but they were so cheap! How could I pass that up?! Similarly, Direct2Drive's fifth anniversary sale [http://www.direct2drive.com/d2dturns5] may end up with me spending money on games I never get to play, but that's okay because it's just $5, right?
Here's the gist of it: Every week for five weeks, they'll be offering a new genre for download, with every game just $5. This is week two, "Action Games" - last week's was the "Ubisoft/Strategy" sale, which can be found at the bottom of the page. While the vast majority of the titles are being marked down from $15 or $10, there's still some damn good deals there: The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena down from $40, Saints Row 2 down from $30, and BioShock down from $20 - to name the big ones? That'd warrant a whistle or two, if you could hear me over the computer.
Next week's sale will be RPGs and MMOs, the week after that will be Indie games, and the sale will close with War games. So if you've been dying to try an older title for a while but haven't had the spare cash, keep an eye out on this one. I mean, $5? That's the price of a footlong sandwich at Subway. I might love a good footlong as much as the next guy, but a sandwich vs a game? Well, it'd better be a really good sandwich (or, alternatively, a really bad game.)
