Anonymous exists to mock the world. To bring balance to the retarded, insular communities that can only exist unchallenged on the net. Whose members-only forums are a breeding ground for antisocial and basically unacceptable behaviour.

Who else stands up against the society of furries, emos, people who dress up like anime characters, perverts and fetishists of the world? Anonymous takes on these outcasts in their own back yard and forces them to examine themselves for the sickening mess that they are.

Sure this might polarise some of them yet further against the world. But if one, JUST ONE furry decides to repent and discard their fursuit after a thousand btards descend on his forum and flood it with guro porn, then my friends, the battle is won.

Scientology is kind of like a real-life precursor to a furry website. Its members know no world outside of the orgs, and they are drawn deeper and deeper into the subculture until the subculture is reality, and reality is the fiction.

Scientology's recruitment methods are slightly more sinister than a furry website, who might lure new members by placing their URL on some pictures that they festoon across the web like so much repugnant confetti. Instead Scientology pray on the weak and mentally feeble by offering them "Free stress tests" which promise an escape from their unpleasant modern lives. Once the fish has taken the bait, a process of indoctrinarion begins that it is extremely difficult to break free of.

I think Anonymous attack the cult for a number of different reasons. Some did it purely to see what would happen, some for the "lulz", some out of a genuine hatred and resentment for the church, and some because they've made friends at the initial protests and they have this activity in common now.

I think at this point the curious and the lulz-seeking element has gradually waned away, leaving a hard core of protesters who continue every month to try to make a difference to the world. We've already done so online, there's countless camwhoeres deleted myspace profiles and closed fetish forums to attest to that, and now the next step is to take it into reality.

Well, that's a big load of self-serving tripe with a mighty thin coating of specious rationalisation over it.

From my perspective, the difference between furry groups/myspacers/etc and "Anonymous" is almost imperceptable... and the difference is mainly that the furries/camwhores aren't trying to break others' communities for their thrills.

I'm always amazed that despite all of its phenomenal stupidity 4chan manages to retain proper spelling and punctuation for the most part.
That's because /b/ isn't actually retarded, we just act like it for the lulz.

*Sigh* I used to be a /b/tard, still am to an extent, but now I wallow in self pity, trawling the depths of the lesser known 'chans' for any sign of epic.
Still waiting for the second coming of Gaia...
Still waiting...

My problem with Anonymous is that anyone who is not a frequent /b/tard is ridiculed to their death if they even so much as put one foot outside of the hudreds of undocumented rules that Anonymous has established over the years.

the saddest thing is, from my stand point, is that everyone here is completely right, while yes /b/ is no longer the same majestic piece of crap it used to be, we should all stop bawwwwwwwing over it and go back to the reason we were on be to begin with, a bunch of obnoxious wankers who threaten every single thing on the planet, but seriously /b/ has blown massive chunks, something needs to be done about the newfags

hey dumbass, its Distributed Denial of Service attack, not direct.

Also please just refer to them as Scientology rather than 'the Church', as the second seems as if they are actually a religion.

Q: How can you be Anon in public? A: You can't. So you are not Anon.
Ahh, a philosophical question. Are you anonymous if no one in public looks at you, or speaks to, you makes any kind of contact at all? How well do you recall the faces of everyone you passed by the last time you were in a shopping centre?

You are no longer Anonymous when you have your photo taken in a crowd of people and your face is clearly visible.
Well at least they think they are anonymous, and it's the thought that counts right? Right...?

Meh, the /b/tards are just awful, horrible people who want to be racist, homophobic, or paedophiles. Add to that, they have no empathy for other humans, and we get the people who cheer on suicides or attack websites "For the lolz". Ok, some people really do take the web too seriously, but the /b/tards are the reason some people welcome big business onto the web.

As bizzare as it seems, cracked even pointed this out (http://www.cracked.com/article_16765_5-ways-stop-trolls-from-killing-internet.html)

Right away let me shut down everyone who's snorting derisively into their can of Mountain Dew and saying, "Trolls will be trolls!" You should know that there are billions of dollars at play here. The trolls are driving away business, and that simply won't be allowed to continue. I'm not saying I'm rooting for it--I'm saying that's the economic reality.
Yes, it turns out there's a reason the Wild West didn't stay wild. The gunslingers loved it, but the other 99% of the world wanted laws and security and highways. And they were the ones with the money.
Jokes aside, they do have a point, I think. Most of the people on the internet don't want roaming trolls and /b/tards trying to wreck everything they make, especially businesses with lots and lots of cash to back them.

This article was full of HURR and DURR, apparently written by someone with third-hand knowledge of 4chan.

Nobody gives a fuck about scientology. We stopped giving a fuck about it ages ago.

Anonymous is everyone and noone, everywhere and nowhere. It is the hidden line between order and chaos. To say you are anonymous is to be the very opposite of anonymous. To give yourself a name or a face is to separate yourself from anonymous. But in the end all are welcome and all are members for anonymous is the incorporeal will of the internet directed by the actions of everyone. You can not escape it, you can not be it, and in the end you shall never be rid of it.

Scientology? Shit that is old news, besides most of the people who protested IRL were just there to protest. Most weren't really anon at all, with the small exception of Operation Party Hard.

Honestly, Anonymous doesn't really come off as the group of guys who are super hackers. They just seem like guys who know how to take credit when the opportunity arises. I'm probably one of the people who see /b/ as the cesspool of the internet and I very rarely see people compliment /b/ unless they go their themselves.

Are they bad people? No. They're just a group of kids who just like to shock people for laughs. Do they do raids? Probably, but the most I myself have ever seen them arise too is blocking the pool in Habbo Hotel.
