New Luc Besson Movie Has Pterodactyls and Mummies [NSFW]

Ever wished there was a movie that mixed Ancient Egypt, dinosaurs and turn of the century France? Well, you're in luck as Luc Besson's latest movie will fulfil your very specific wish.

Set in pre-World War I Paris and based on a comic strip [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Les_Aventures_extraordinaires_d'Ad%C3%A8le_Blanc-Sec], The Extraordinary Adventures of Adele Blanc-Sec charts the adventures of Adele Blanc-Sec, a novelist turned investigative reporter on the trail of a Pterodactyl and an Egyptian mummy.

Probably.

The trailer is in French - and contains a snippet of bare breasts, hence the NSFW tag - so it's a little hard to make out what's going on; Adele could be in the employ of the mummy for all I know, but despite the language barrier the film looks like it's going to be a lot of fun.

The Extraordinary Adventures of Adele Blanc-Sec is released in France on April 14th and hopefully will get an international release not long after.

I agree on the strangely awesome thing but I'm lucky since I don't need the subtitles. Yay for bilingualism!

Plus I didn't even have to watch the trailer to know I loved it. Seriously brilliant headline PTERODACTYLS+MUMMIES=Brilliance.

Edit: After re-watching the trailer to fully understand it (cuz damn they talk fast) the Mummy seems to be very polite and friendly. And I think I picked up something about the main character trying to revive her dead sister. As I said they talk really fast so now I have to re-agree with JRCB on the subtitles.

That does look pretty cool. I wish I spoke French for that part. But I did like the mummy in the suit. Just made me laugh to see a mummy clothed in something besides bandages or a loincloth.

Cool trailer. Second i saw the NSFW sign i thought probably lots of nudity or graphic violence in trailer. then at the end i saw nipples. Barely.......I would say its SFW since its a foreign film lol.
Try telling your boss that when he or she walks past at the wrong moment :)

This is awesome on so many levels. This just goes to show that foreign films are more often than not more interesting than what Hollywood pumps out.

What a gibberish language. Whenever people speak French, even when they're really speaking it, it sounds like they're dubbing over something English. I think that comes from growing up in Canada, seeing a great movie on TV... only to find out it on the French station and it's being dubbed.

Movie looks interesting. Luc Besson does "fun" stuff, so it should be entertaining. It's the type of movie your girl would love that you secretly love too. The trailer also had a touch of "Tomb Raider if it wasn't terrible" look to it.

Nipples! I's not a french movie unless it contains nudity or softcore sex.

OT: It looks good. I might actually go and see this movie.

No, I can't understand what the weirdo says but his finishing word is "Humanity?" posed as a question, her reply is "Only my Sister"... no mention of her being dead.

God bless the French and our love of the female form, when I was a kid shampoo adverts had tits in them, good times.

I heard it as "Only For My Sister" and then there was the shot of her with a very pale woman in her arms. And yes I remember those shampoo ads.

Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes, Oh my God YES! I already love everything Luc Besson and I have a passion for 'bad' films. Add those two together and you get pure AWESOME! Nothing will stop me from seeing this one!

French, gibberish??? Nonsense!!! =D

For those of you that don't speak the language, however, here's the story so far. Adèle, the heroine, is a novelist living in Paris, in the years right before World War I. She does a lot of research for her novels, and this frequently leads her to investigate the mystical world of crime. The comics dealt a lot with the themes of the occult, corruption, official incompetence, and the dangers of patriotism. However, the movie, from what I was able to gather, is about Adèle investigating some strange Egyptian magical ritual which brings things back to life, or full health: her sister is apparently very sick and/or dying. Unfortunately, in the process, she reads some sort of ritual, and a pterodactyl is reborn, leaving nothing but egg shells behind it; apparently, Ramses II is walking in the streets of Paris, too. Of course, panic and mayhem ensues.

That's about all I was able to understand, and I'm fluent. Looks like other Frenchmen don't understand everything that's going on either, from what I read on the net. It looks like the movie is a big mix of the Adèle Blanc-Sec series...

So what does the weirdo ask her?, I can't understand a word he says!, didn't see the dead person owing to watching the video on my old laptop in teeny weeny eye strain o vision.

The timotei ad with the girl under the waterfall? oh yeah, being 7 years old with a hot chocolate in hand watching waterfall boobies.

Thinking of that advert makes me want to sing La Marseillaise.

I speak good France too.

Sorry, couldn't help it, yeah I'm fluent too but I don't know the context of the Comics (if it was Spiff and Hercules or Lucky Luke then i'd be all over it), but its the weirdo that gets me, I can't understand a single thing he says.

I remember the waterfall and the boobies. But back to the topic. I had real difficulty with what he said since really some of the people talk too damn fast for me (I may be half-French and in France but I still can't follow that speed). We'll just have to see when the film comes out.
