Interesting read. I don't play Counter-Strike, mostly because it is infested with the same really serious players who make me realise just how much I suck. I mean really the only kills I manage seem to be my own team and that's unintentionally too. I do agree that it's particularly sad when someone gets so dedicated to Counter Strike that they basically unknowingly remove the fun for themselves, (and me but at least I have the good sense to quit.)

However I don't agree with griefing in general, I guess I don't get the same thrill out of pissing other people off, (unless they deserve it mind you, then I'm all over it.) I know this piece doesn't justify griefing but being a jerk on the Internet isn't cool, even against CS dweebs. It's a waste of your time and obviously someone elses.

The thing is if you're going to note that someone is pathetic for being too serious about CS how is it any less pathetic to spend your time trying to piss off people whose time isn't valuable anyway? If ever I got the urge to go on a server and be a tosser I'd probably consider it a time to re-evaluate myself. Not just because "being a dick is bad" because honestly sometimes being a dick is awesome... it's just that griefing is so easy, so lackluster, I mean you're literally picking on the dregs of humanity in the easiest most indirect way possible. It's like a twenty year-old picking on a 8 year old for being short. Although people may ge pleasure out of that therefore justifying it to themselves and prooving once again that schadenfreude is alive and well it's still pretty damn pathetic - and yeah, much moreso than being obsessed with Counter Strike.
