Zynga and Yahoo! Join Forces

Facebook [http://www.zynga.com] basket.

Tensions between Facebook and Zynga had been running high enough in recent weeks that a announcement [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/100437-Will-Zynga-Leave-Facebook] revealing its own deal with Zynga suggests that the casual gaming goliath is still interested in broadening its horizons.

The Yahoo/Zynga partnership means people will be able to play Zynga games and update their status from the Yahoo! Homepage as well as well Yahoo! Games, Yahoo! Mail, Yahoo! Messenger and other online locations. Zynga games will also be integrated into the Yahoo! Application Platform, "Yahoo!'s OpenSocial container through which third-party developers can develop applications on Yahoo!"

The actual terms of the deal, including who's paying for what and when we can expect to see Mafia Wars updates in our Yahoo! Mail accounts, weren't revealed, although as Gamezebo [http://www.gamezebo.com/news/2010/05/26/zynga-will-soon-yahoo-don%E2%80%99t-count-your-farmville-chickens-they-hatch] noted, integrating the two could very easily take months, if not longer: Despite making a similar deal last year, FarmVille remains inaccessible from MSN.

So Zynga's gonna pull the plug on their Facebook games, at least on Facebook? I foresee millions of confused users asking each other what happened to all their tomatoes in the near future.

Well, I haven't used Yahoo! since Gmail came out. Back when Gmail was first released, to be exact. When you needed INVITES to it to even be able to use it. It's been THAT long.

Wait. I do occasionally use Yahoo! answers. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Wait...what's a Yahoo?

All snarky commentary aside, this is terrible, because it means even more (probably not internet-savvy) people will be exposed to Zynga's crap.

Well aren't you special....what does this have to do with the topic at hand, other than a glancing mention of yahoo while you inflate your ego?

OT: Yeah, I think I'll be finding a new place to park my e-mail address at now. Where I'm not sure since hotmail sucks and g-mail is constantly being hacked by the Chinese.

Its too late for them!

Save the women and children from updating virtual crops for no reason whatsoever against their will!

I used a very old version of AIM (I dislike the new style), but I doubt that I'll be having any problems soon. I use gmail for my email, and hardly ever go to Facebook.

I do, however, feel badly for the people who will be tormented by this.

This is great, all of the failure companies are consolidating.

It's more efficient, kind of the equivalent of a corporate world trash compactor.
