Question of the Day, July 12, 2010

A new Maxis game will be revealed at Comic Con this year, and its creators have described it as a "Sci-Fi Action-RPG based on the DNA of Spore." This could mean many things, but what do you think it is?

Pretty much what it says on the tin.

An action RPG, where you play as something you've made in the creature creator.

They'll be improving the applications of the creature/building/ship creator, and actually make a good game on the concept (hopefully).

Anything involving the character creator will make me smile again. Loved that feature

Probably another game that all these people that know nothing about games (like some douche that was in my gym class a few years back) will say is the greatest thing ever, and in reality it will get boring after a few hours...

I wonder if it will follow in Daddy's footsteps and have an about equal split of pirated copies and purchased copies.

I have no idea what the game will be like, but strong repetition will probably follow after the first playthrough

A better game then the original Spore, I hope.

It was a good idea, but the space stage was way to boring.

I'm pretty sure it will do a similar thing to spore, look like it has incredible depth and customizability but ultimately become dull and repetitive

I never forgave Spore for promising so much and delivering so little. I'm going to wait until long past the release date before making any assumptions on this game.

I'll be honest: I have absolutely no idea why they would try to leverage the 'Spore' brand-name, except that perhaps they owe Will Wright some money or something-- frankly, by doing so, they're associating themselves with disappointment, failed expectations, bugginess, shitty DRM, and a whole host of other negative connotations.
