Beavis and Butt-head Are Back

Beavis and Butt-head [http://www.mtv.com/shows/beavis_and_butthead/series.jhtml], the world's most famous addle-brained slacker metalheads, are making a comeback.

The animated duo of Beavis and Butt-head were spectacularly empty-headed, destructive and offensive headbangers who spread heavy metal woe wherever they went. They were also hugely popular throughout the 90s, to the point that a surprisingly entertaining full-length movie, Beavis and Butt-head Do America [http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0115641/], was released in 1996. In 1997, after 200 episodes, the show finally went off the air.

But now it's back, or at least it will be soon, according to New York Post [http://www.mtv.com] that work is currently underway on a new series of episodes. The new episodes will maintain the same "minimalist" (which is to say, not very good) style of animation the series is famous for and the pair will still be in high school, dressed in their customary shorts and t-shirts, but will feature the current generation of musicians and movies, along with the usual snarky commentary aimed at all sucks about it. Mike Judge, who created the original show and voiced both characters, is behind the new series.

I'm not sure how I feel about this. Beavis and Butt-head was one of the stupidest things I've ever seen on television and I lamented the fact that such sub-standard garbage could become an entertainment touchstone for an entire generation. But it also made me laugh a lot. So yeah, I'm probably going to watch. The new Beavis and Butt-head episodes are expected to come out next year.

Ok, how about we get Daria instead... or maybe not, let's not ruin it.

Well look on the bright side. Maybe we'll have an excuse to actually watch Mtv for the first time in over a decade.

Is there even anyone old enough on these forums to remember watching their first run on MTV? Must be a very few.

I doubt this will work again, does anyone remember when they tried bringing ren and stimpy back? That was just awful. Ill stick with my nostalgia and skip this second coming.

I'm not sure if I care or not. I really liked the movie but I don't think the show could have bored me more if it had tried.

I even thought this was a stupid show when I was 10 years old, let alone now, and no, it didn't make me laugh. Oh well, hurray at the new generation of preteen Justin Bieber/Lady Gaga mouthbreathing fans guffawing at really bad metalhead stereotypes that stopped being relevant 15 years ago I guess. They are the only ones who still watch MTV anyway.

This will probably end badly. Beavis and Butt-head was funny... but I don't really care for it anymore. I may watch the first epidose out of curiosity, but I mostly likely won't watch all episodes.

Kickass...the beauty of Beavis and Butthead was that it was watchable on many levels. The obvious one was the antics of stupid teenagers without parents. The subtler social commentary was that the kids were actually smarter than many of the people they encountered. Then there was the whole exploration of "flyover" America through all the stereotypical supporting cast members.

I <3 Beavis and Butthead and other than the aboretion that was Extract Mike Judge has done some pretty good work.

Funniest episode I saw , was them at the burger joint so bored they invented the game or throwing food into the ceiling fan, that was about it though for my interest in the show.

If they can keep the old style of humor, it will be great, although it turns almost uncomfortably awkward it was always fun enough to keep watching, I still find myself watching the movie now and again, and of course the small 5-10 minute episodes usually have something that will make me lol. That being said I fear that they might ruin it, I know it's still Mike Judge, but all I have to say to counter that is; George Lucas..

But I hope for the best, let's get it on, we are running out of good stuff to watch anyway ^^.

Really? Wow.

I don't see this working. The show was a big deal 15 years ago because it was so edgy but now, with shows like Robot Chicken, Family Guy, and others, I don't see it being that big of a deal.

Also, MTV isn't exactly the powerhouse it used to be and the majority of the people who watch it now probably aren't the same kind of 90's metal heads that Beavis and Butt-head was targeted at in the first place.

...Muh.

Beavis and Butthead is funny for about 3 episodes. Then you realise there's much better things you could be watching. There really doesn't need to be anymore episodes.

The best that can be said about them is they have just about the iconic laughs ever.

Yes, but that was actually the point. If that makes any sense. I think it was some kind of satire or something.
And besides, its not like its any worse than the current crap and drivel on MTV.
I'm totally excited. It was stupid, dumb, and just absolutely hilarious.

Let's hope Mike Judge is producing it!!!! But I'm still sceptical about it. Some series that came back just didn't have the same ingredients that made them good. But hey.. I can always put up my Beavis voice and say: "Hehehe.. hhmm.. this sucks!"

my brother will be very happy, I remember he made me watch a few eps he has on tape, and I had thought "wow, this is kinda stupid... but funny! :D" Hope this is an updated version, that would be great, it would be even funnier if they still listened to the same stuff and got made fun of by the new metal heads... better yet, if there were hipsters... and crabcore
