You'd rather watch Diarrhea than Beavis and Butthead? You make me sad.

Beavis and Butthead permanently warped my Brain when I was about 12 years old when it was airing on Much Music. I watched pretty much every episode and collected the VHS episode collections (VHS was that thing before DVDs that looked like a giant cassette tapes. Oh? A cassette tapes were...ah forget it), and I am very fucking stoked at this news. I saw Type O Negative and pre-"Antichrist Superstar" Marilyn Manson videos for the first time on this show.

For the best example of how great the low brow humour of Beavis and Butthead was, watch the episodes "No Laughing" [http://www.tv.com/beavis-and-butt-head/no-laughing/episode/57909/summary.html?tag=ep_guide;summary], "The Great Cornholio" [http://www.tv.com/beavis-and-butt-head/the-great-cornholio/episode/58241/summary.html?tag=ep_guide;summary], and "The Final Judgement Of Beavis" [http://www.tv.com/beavis-and-butt-head/the-final-judgment-of-beavis/episode/58223/summary.html?tag=ep_guide;summary].

Is there even anyone old enough on these forums to remember watching their first run on MTV? Must be a very few.

I doubt this will work again, does anyone remember when they tried bringing ren and stimpy back? That was just awful. Ill stick with my nostalgia and skip this second coming.
I watched it back when I was like 4.

Think about it, the way they helped bring about the end of hair bands by making fun of them in a way that the viewers took a look at the subject of the skewering and said, "they're right, WInger sucks" can be used for reality TV. I can just see Butt-Head saying "This chick is dumber than you" while watching Jersey Shore.

I'm not sure how I feel about this. Beavis and Butt-head was one of the stupidest things I've ever seen on television and I lamented the fact that such sub-standard garbage could become an entertainment touchstone for an entire generation.
And then came Family Guy, just as stupid, but with no humor. This will definitely be an improvement over current fare.

The greatest joke about the original was that Mike Judge was making fun of the very people that tuned in to watch it.

He did the same thing with King Of The Hill, the only difference is that at least some of the people who watched Beavis and Butthead understood that they were being made fun of along with the bands being skewered each episode.

Oh, dear. I saw one or two old episodes on late-night TV once, and it was awfully stupid. As I understand this show, it's just half an hour of "Huh, *snort* heh-hah, huh-huh-hah, *snort snort* (insert 1-3 syllables here), heh-heh" on repeat. I doubt that this will begin or end well.

Edit: It appears, looking through the comments, that people have seen episodes in which something actually happened. I saw the episode where they get excited about graduating high-school or something of the sort, which gave me the formula mentioned in the original comment.

Dude don't even suggest it. Daria would end up an emo that cuts herself while reading Twilight in the current marketplace... It's bad enough they are going to ruin one of the best shows of the 90s with this B&B remake, but for gods sake leave Daria alone.

The worst parts of the show were when they did the music videos, and they are bringing that back? Even MTV doesn't show music videos anymore, why would Beavis and Butthead?

I guess it is "iconic" to do the music videos, but I never met anyone who said that they liked em.

Looking back I can't imaging how I ever thought those two were funny, but somehow during my hormone filled adolescence, I did.
I've also since then seen and heard things that are a great deal more stupid and offensive than Beavis and Butt-Head. Like say most of Cartoon Network's late-night line up for example. XÞ

Because Daria left off on an appropriate ending, while Beavis and Butthead ended off with them walking into the sunset with money. Plus they can always riff on the garbage of music thats on these days.

Heh-heh-heh-heh cool. That would rock.

If they can bring back Aeon Flux as well... And the original Celebrity Deathmatch.

And, while we're at it, all the music videos.

Hell, just take the whole station back to the 90's and time-loop it in there.

Im more afraid the the whole show will 'progress' just as MTV did. Back when it started it was something fresh, some different way of showing all the happily sprouting rock/metal culture in contrast to the more shiny, flashy and pretty pop. Sure it was stupid but i was supposed to be stupid, it was on the surreal side of the spectrum of junk television productions. I dare to say it was quite intelligent in its stupidity, or even "It charged right through the stupidity and came out on the other side as something completely different" .

These days MTV is one of such 'mainstream' and 'bland' televisions, the countless, idiotic and mundane shows about how a spoiled 16 yo gets her dream b-day ruined by herself, all the dating shows or other forms of 'reality-tv'. Hard to get rid of the feeling the show will end up tame and less abstract for sake of MTVs target audience.

Well look on the bright side. Maybe we'll have an excuse to actually watch Mtv for the first time in over a decade.
And yet it still won't be able to save it. Apparently MTV is under the assumption that rock n' roll is, in fact, noise pollution.

People still watch MTV?
Yes, apparently some deranged maniacs derive entertainment from the endless marathons of Real World/Road Rules Challenge, despite the fact I believe neither show is still on the air (feel free to correct me).
