Robots Revolt In Fourth Borderlands Expansion

Claptrap's New Robot Revolution pits players against deadly mercenaries, a rebelling robotic army, and a ninja assassin.

Gearbox's RPG and shooter hybrid, [http://www.amazon.com/Borderlands-Xbox-360/dp/B000WMEEB2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1281541650&sr=8-1], was a massive success for the developer, due in large part to its cooperative mode. Players blew through the game and demanded more. With demand remaining high even after the release of three downloadable add-ons last winter, publisher 2K announced a fourth expansion in March. After months of silence, the publisher revealed today that the fourth expansion, Claptrap's New Robot Revolution, will pit players against a rebellious army of mechanical monstrosities.

Claptrap's New Robot Revolution places players right in the middle of a war between the mercenaries of the Hyperion Corporation and an uprising army of homicidal Claptrap robots led by the Ninja Assassin. You and three of your closest friends take on the role of vault hunters, who must put aside their past conflicts with Hyperion for a chance at a hefty payday.

In game terms, the expansion will add twenty new missions and tons of new enemies. Players will have to survive boss battles, waves of robot attacks, betrayals from your supposed Hyperion allies, and robot-modified versions of the local fauna. Characters can earn up to ten new skill points (bringing the total to seventy-one) and three additional backpack slots.

If you were looking for any other reason to try the expansion, Christoph Hartmann, president of 2K, sells it quite eloquently: "In addition to serving as the perfect bookend to the original game, what gamer doesn't love a kung-fu-wielding Ninja Assassin Claptrap with nunchuck skills?"

Indeed, Christoph. Who doesn't?

Borderlands fans will be able to download Claptrap's New Robot Revolution for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC at some point in September for $9.99 (800 MS points).

I'm quite surprised. I thought the latest DLC for Borderlands would be the last. Furthermore, I always thought they would leave the ninja Claptrap for Borderlands 2 as it's a kind of teasing hint at the end of the credits to the original.

Anyway, I will strongly consider getting this DLC.

This makes me so happy. I always wanted to meet the ninja assassin claptrap from the first time I saw a mention of it. Instead we got mad moxxi and zombies and some...other...random...military dudes? Oh well, it was all fun and nice - but I still felt that craving for meeting that ninja assassin claptrap...

And now I get to do it! I might even get to shoot it in the head if I'm lucky!

Wait wait wait. There weren't any conflicts with Hyperion Corp. (which is the one that built Claptraps, by the way). The mercs players were shooting up to that point - Crimson Lance - are on Atlas Corp. payroll. Just to clear that up, which one you're supposed to join here?

Since it isn't arena-based, *coughMoxxiecough* I will definitely buy it.
I even just put the Viva La Robolution as my desktop.

Not to mention that Hyperion
Built the Angel that guided you to the vault, they must have incredibly knowledge about Pandora that they aren't sharing.

I'm pretty sure that for most players (like me) the story didn't really have any significance. The point of the game seemed to be shoot shit with friends and earn levels and that it does well. Adding more levels and more shit to shoot with friends seems like a perfectly logical solution to me, even though it doesn't make any sense in the storyline.

Hope they don't patch the wonderful glitch in the armoury with this one. Otherwise, it sounds like fun. I kinda want new guns though.

EDIT:

Some people think that the Guardian Angel from Hyperion may have been manipulating the player to get what she wanted. We still don't know her motives, but she's owned by Hyperion, and I have yet to see an honest weapon company on Pandora.

Claptrap is getting revenge for all the times he got owned during the game.

Time to dust of my disk and give it another whizz with my ultra-killing death shotgun.

Borderlands, I haven't played that in FOREVER. Probable because of DRM.....hmmmm, can we remove DRM this time around Gearbox, seeing as this is the last DLC? It would make a lot of your fans happy, or you know, we can go download another crack. :D *Thanks USA, I can now legally hack my DRM games, now to find one for Spore.*

All we know is that the Angel lives on Hyperion's satellite - while that implies that Hyperion built her, it isn't definitive proof, nor does that mean that Hyperion itself had any vested interest in assisting you or keeping the Vault sealed.

In other words, she could simply be a Hyperion AI that gained sentience, discovered the Destroyer's dimension from historical data and guided the hunters to re-sealing it herself, without her corporate masters' blessing. Or she could be an Eridian AI that uploaded herself to the Hyperion satellite, to better monitor Pandora.

It's premature to assume anything about the Angel without knowing more, including who she works for.

It sounds kind of stupid but unless it's crap I'll get it. So far, the only dlc I've missed for this is Moxi.
