After being dead for about a year my pc now lives, it has a new power supply.

The problems are 1)I have two hard drives, a 500GB and a 1TB. To get my computer to run I had to re-install windows 7, I couldn't overwrite or repair it. When I click on "computer" it shows C and D .... C is 114GB of 127GB and D is 13GB of 104GB.

Where oh where is my 1TB and all that data?

2) this is going to sound a little sad but ... I have a runescape account, it is from when I was 13 or so but every so often I like to jump on and walk around for a few hours.

The game is running at about 15 FPS (although I am a crap judge of that stuff), what the fuck is up with that? My graphics card is a HD5750 (not great but it's running runescape!), I think my processor it Q6600 and 8GB of ram but it's been so long I forget how to computer ...

Any advice is greatly appreciated and please be very step by step, "click start, control panel" instead of "go to control panel" please.

This isn't like riding a bike for me lol

Sounds like the 1TB hard drive is just not plugged in - can you open the case and check for loose connections? I don't know where the other half of the 500GB is, though.

Here is something you can try for both of these:
click the Start menu -> right click Computer -> choose Manage -> from the panel on the right go to Device Manager -> look under Disk drives -> that would get you to the Computer Manager
That should list the hard drives you have, so if it does show the 1TB one, then something is definitely wrong.

Also, in the Computer Manager's right panel go to Disk Management - you will be able how the hard drive is being used. It could be that a part of it is unallocated or simply hidden - sometimes you can have partitions with backups or stuff that are not visible...although they won't constitute half the disk space... At any rate, it's worth a look.

Well, you can use MSI Afterburner (and other software, but I've used that before, at least) to see both what FPS you're running at and what is the load on your video card. Also have a look at the Task Manager (Ctrl+Alt+Esc) to see if the processor/RAM usage is unusually high (so it's worth starting it and keepping an eye for a few minutes before launching the game).

I think the C and D is the C drive but cos I had to re-install the windows 7 stuff, it partitioned the drive ... maybe that 500GB is only 250GB? I might have been wrong.

The disk management is showing C,D and my 1TB (which I have named X drive). It is saying X is active and healthy, it is showing all kinds of stuff about it but it's not showing up in "my computer".

I will do part 2 tomorrow as it is 2 am and I have to be up early.

Thanks for the help!

I haven't played Runescape in a very long time but from what I can remember your computers performance is largely dependent on how fast your internet connection is. Therefore your slow fps could possibly be attributed to either having a slow internet connection or having your bandwidth used up by something else.

Also I'd test a couple of other games and check that you have a decent fps with them, if you do then its pretty likely that the problem is with your internet connection or your web browser or something. (Runescape is still browser based, right?)

And as DoPo said, examine processes and the like in your Task Manager to see how much of your CPU and memory etc is being used up and if anything that is running is consuming a lot of your resources.

The most common reason for that particular behavior is the OS not "liking" the current drive letter assignment.

I don't know why it would object to X, but reassigning your 1TB drive to E or F would be a quick way to see if this was the problem. The option to do so is in disc management.

Also, if you need quick information about your system, such as the RAM amount you could not recall, type dxdiag into the search bar just above start, and run the program of the same name.

As for Runescape, what Slavenumber said, that program takes jack all in terms of local resources to run. Check your browser, update Java (at least I think it runs with Java, its been years), and check the internet connection.

What kind of file system does it say for X:/ in disk management? It's possible that it isn't actually formatted (especially if you only just put it in - they often come without formatting). Right click it in disk management and format it to NTFS.

As for Runescape being shit, your graphics card really should be plenty, though I'm not sure Runescape actually uses graphics acceleration (it probably should, but I dunno). What CPU are you using? Also make sure you've got the proper graphics drivers installed via Windows update optional updates or from the ATI website here [http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles/Pages/AMDCatalyst1110ReleaseNotes.aspx].

Firstly, thanks for helping.

I stumbled across some rating system on the PC, 1 is terribad and 7 is awesome ... it says my graphics and gaming graphics is 1, so I assume it isn't recognizing the card (I know the card isn't great but it's not a 1)

I also tried updating the graphics card drivers and it installs it but it doesn't seem to work. If i go to "catalyst control centre is pops up a system message "ccc.exe-.NET Framework initialization Error" (if you need me to type up the full message I will do).

When playing Runescape I can "auto detect" the graphics and it sets them to high but lags like a mother. If I drop the graphics to minecraft level, it runs like a babbling brook.

The 1TB hard drive problem has been sorted, thanks to Heronblade!

Out of curiosity, is your monitor actually plugged into the graphics card and not the onboard graphics? As far as the error message, make sure you have .NET framework 4 installed.
