I'm one that enjoys the occasional fast paced game of Versus on L4D, but I tend to lean more to the side of slow paced, RPG-style games.

That's not to say I didn't enjoy my Medal of Honor battlechest immensly, but now, having finished a whole lot of RPGs, I can look back and say I do like the RPG-scene more. It's something about the whole involvement affair I think - sure, Jack Carver may LOOK like me in an hawaiian shirt, but he definately doesn't think like me. Any RPG character tends to think like me, unless I have a mental breakdown.

But 'on topic', eastern or western? Perhaps northeastern more than anything.

As a fairly analytical person, I think in numbers. So I'd explain it in precentages. For examle i'd say i'm about 75% east, 25% west.
I'd say you're about 50% nerd, 50% geek :)

Me, I'm 70% xbox 360, 20% PS3, 5% Wii and %5 PC :)

No, no, definatly 100% nerd.

anyways that dosen't really answer the question, it's not "what systems do you use?", it's "what kind of gamer are you?".
yeah, i understood the question, just don't know how to categorize myself according to your particular formula.

I just love games. I don't think about where they come from, Japanese or Western. I'm an equal opportunity video game player. I suppose that I would play more western style games, but their country of origin influences me not at all when deciding on a game to play/buy.

I like games in both categories. I've always been into strategy games, but I'm also very good at racing games and I play some FPSs. I like the dynamic, ever-changing scenarios in a good strategy game, but I also like the fast-paced, precise reflex tests in racing games and FPSs.

I guess I would fall into being an eastern gamer, All because of SNES and N64.

Had the same problem as you, I went into PS2 and I was totally lost. Fast paced games pissed me off just because I couldn't get a headshot. Then Halo, GearsOfWar, MGS, etc... came out and now I just dont give a fuck about anygame. RE 4 and 5 <3

I'm probably close to the middle, but I'd be Eastern gamer, definitely.. Shadow of the Colossus, Assassin's Creed, and Zelda being some examples of this. Probably because I've only recently in the past year or two started getting into FPS.

I'm 50/50 according to this, interesting because I grew up with Nintendo and played Western games on my first computer.

My favorite games:

Halo series
Half Life 2
Team Fortress 2
Left 4 Dead
Oblivion
Fallout 3
Both Gears
Final Fantasy 4
SSB series
Metroid series

I guess I fall into the "western" category, but I don't think you should categorize at all.

I started out as an eastern gamer, and then mutated into a western one. I love FPSs, I hate racing games, and I've only liked a few JRPGs in my life.

I have to say that I'm a "western gamer". After playing Lost Planet, however, I think I have the right to avoid Japanese games (out of caution, not prejudice).

that is a gross oversimplification with horrible, horrible categories.

i think its three types,
gargleflops, who tend to play after work
graxlehorns, who tend to play before work
and fribblewonks, who tend to be unemployed or play at work.
