EA Predicts High Scores for Crysis 2

EA believes that Crysis 2 won't just be good, it'll be downright excellent.

A publisher saying an upcoming game is going to be something special isn't really all that surprising, but David DeMartini, head of EA Partners, is being awfully specific about exactly how special the game is going to be.

DeMartini said that Crysis 2's was "going to be another 90 rated game from Crytek." He said that quality was of paramount importance to the developer and added that this was the reason that the game's release had been pushed back, rather than any worries about competition from Halo: Reach or Call of Duty: Black Ops

"A game like Crysis and a team like Crytek's never going to be intimidated by being in any window," he said, referring to the game's earlier Fall 2010 release. "But they will always be very careful of not releasing a game until it reaches its full potential." He said that the game's multiplayer alone had had a whole team - Crytek UK, formerly known as Free Radical, makers of the TimeSplitters games - working on it, and that he thought it would be especially strong.

It's a pretty safe bet that DeMartini is right about Crysis 2's review scores; he probably wouldn't have said it if he wasn't sure. As this will be the first time that many gamers will have played a Crysis game, it's good that the experience will be an enjoyable one.

Crysis 2 is scheduled for release on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC on March 22nd next year.

I have high hopes for Crysis 2... Even though the gameplay has been dumbed down, per this decades tradition, the story is written by Richard K. Morgan, who is an excellent author, I'd recommend his first novel Altered Carbon to anyone who likes sci-fi.

Kinda a little too soon to make score predicaments, but until now Crysis 2 does seem good, but for some of us PC gamers maybe not as good as the predecessor.

The staged online multiplayer I saw looked like halo and COD's spwan child (not necessarily a bad thing) and I'm hyped up to hear it'll look the best on PC ad PS3.

Here's the vid for those that haven't seen it. I think its on the PC.

EDIT: So I found some gameplay of Crysis on Cryengine 2 and saw comparisons to the Cryengine 3 engine on the 360 and found that the Cryengine 3 is Cryengine 2 on Med Settings. No bullshit. Today being the first time I've every seen Crysis I have to wholeheartedly admit that Crysis looks 10x better than Crysis 2. [small]Damn PC owners get the best shit...[/small]

Heres the comparison vid by Machinima (I butchered the spelling of that :p)

Multiplayer looks kinda boring and the same as any other out there for this gen - could be wrong, but I doubt I will give it more than a cursory stab. I'm hoping the single player retains the freedom of the first game whilst boosting the AI's reaction repertoire and creating more cohesive set-piece battles (though the footage so far looks kinda more linear than the first game's).

Either way, probably still going to buy it ;)

Yeah, that's great and all, but it really won't matter much if I won't be able to fucking play it thanks to the unholy system requirements.
I mean, Crysis became a goddamn meme for how demanding it was!

I loved the first game but I have zero hopes for the sequel: Dumbed down graphics, dumbed down gameplay, dumbed down everything.

Feels like I have nothing to look forward to besides the next Half-Life and possibly Portal 2 where they won't dumb down the game but improve it.

Those two sentences make it sound as if the review scores have already been bought. Ah, nothing I couldn't imagine.

Nevertheless, I really hope Crysis 2 will be a good game. Sadly I never wasn't able to play more than just a little bit of the first one, but what I have seen and read about Crysis 2 makes it sound awesome.

I want this game to come out already. Not because I want to play it so bad, but because I want Crytek UK to be free to work on a new Timesplitters. Because I really, really, really want a new Timesplitters.

It's pretty unbelievably how much this looks like Modern Warfare 2

Oh hey Irridium, btw, I finally tried Chrono Trigger.

I liked it a lot, it is a good RPG even by today's standards.

It was supposedly demoed on the 360.
