I wonder how much the disappointed people really go out and search for new music.
Because this is a pretty staggering year for music, every other day I'm running into something great, me thinks people aren't looking hard enough.
I suppose because, well, they don't. That's just my assumption, and I'm sticking to it, because there are plenty of interesting albums outside what I normally listen to (e.g. Mainstream Jazz, I only really listened to the oldies of Jazz and Blues, and hip hop).
That being said, in
Jazz, Melody Gardot's "My One and Only Thrill" and "Worrisome Heart", which I actually loved. I was unsure about going into mainstream Jazz, I didn't think it would be bad, just different, but I'm pleasantly surprised. Oh, and it doesn't count, but Nina Simone's greatest hits too.
In
Hip Hop, Joe Budden's "Padded Room", Busta Rhyme's "Back on my B.S." and I plan to buy Jay-Z's "The Blueprint 3" because quite frankly I don't think it's as good as everyone's trying to tell me it is. I've been away from the mainstream for a while to be honest.
In
indie, I'm planning to get Muse, because I've heard good things about Resistance, people have been hyping it up. I'm not as well versed in indie as others, but I know what I likes. I'm considering King's Of Leon, but I'm not really a fan from what I've heard.
And in
Rock in general, I bought the reissue of "Ten" if that counts. You know what? It does! Screw it.
I haven't been disappointed with a single purchase this year to be honest.
