The XX
Ok these guys are from England and there probably one of my new favorite bands.
There music is a kind of mellow indie noise and is suprisingly awesome. They're first album named simply XX was met with "universal acclaim" and there next album is set for some time this year.
heres they're Myspace page

If you like The Gorillaz, you must have good taste. I assume the other bands are good too, I'll check them out.
That could go wrong i basically like every sort of music apart from Modern Metal

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club releases Beat the Devil's Tattoo in March. If you like real rock music and soulful blues then they are the band for you. Man I never get enough of them. See them live too if you can because its a religious experience.

My musical predictions and musical hopes are very different.

Musical Prediction: Miley Cyrus will become even more stupidly rich.

Musical Hope: Everyone will realise she's a talentless, stupid, girl who can't sing for jack shit and she'll go bankrupt.

Musical Prediction: E will remain both the top and bottom string on a guitar.

Musical Hope: They will change one of the strings to be called "TEH EPIC STRING-O-LULZ"

Opeth will release the best album of all time.
I don´t know.
I hardly think that Opeth will ever release anything that tops Morningrise.
But that's just my opinion.

OT:The Opeth thing is awesome.
And a new Gorillaz album is always a treat.

But other then that.I've heard of nothing that interests me.

A7X will not make another kick-ass album this year due to the death of the Rev, may he rest in peace. This year is gonna suck.

XX Had a very good 2009, I think they are okay... they sort of get the attention more because the music is very accomplished a. for a debut and b. for a bunch of 19 year olds.

Memory Tapes - This is the most fantastic electronic synth pop I have heard for a while.

Beach House - Their latest album may be the best and it sounds like it may finnaly push them beyond cult status.

The Avalanches - See my 2009 2008 2007 2006 2005 2004 posts! (in other various places) the follow up to Since I Left you finnaly hits shelves to mass dissapointment! (I want to hear this so much, it's like the Duke Nukem of the music world)

The National - Sell out tour in May imediate, supporting Pavement in Paris and release their 3rd critically appraised album in a row WILL finnaly see the best band of the last decade seek out a firm foothold in history and may even get a more mainstream following as their last album 2007s 'Boxer' showed their fanbase at least triple. Could this FINNALY be the next Radiohead/REM type story where a serious mainstream band is actually fucking good and stays that way?

Blue Roses - Last years album was beautiful, check it out, likely to be turning more heads as the awards start comming for the best undergound type awards. Criminally overlooked at the moment

Nickelback - Release the best album of all time 'pitchfork' u-turn declare band the best thing since super sliced bread and rate the album 10.62 rendering all previous rating systems redundant, known as the Spinal Tap effect.

Animal Collective - To re-release something the recorded on the porch (happened), do something equeally frustatraing by releasing an album which is essentialy a chewed up tape played on a loop, before releasing an EP full of Avant garde christmas hits whilst simultaneously releasing 3 number 23
albums full of sheeny pop hits, collaborating with Gwen Staffani laterr in the year to make the best
pop album since Thriller. Once again proving how unique, frustrating and fasinating this band really are, the Sun awards all albums 5 stars as they realised this band have been cool for more then 5 years now.

Panda Bear (serious) - Animal Collective member releases amazing follow up to Person Pitch at last, I do mushrooms at the south downs claiming this to be the best album of the year.

Field Music - FINALLY more popular then the Futureheads.

Joanna Newsom- Likely to be good but hell; disapoints millions by releasing an album full of Hanson covers which are inferior to the originals in every single away except they way she delivers 'mmm-bop' being one of the most hypnotically beautiful thing in the world.

I think it's going to be as shit as 2009 and 2008 were for my type of music.

The only good release in those years was Jesu's Opiate Sun. One thing.

Perhaps Shellac will release a new album though. They never say. Other than that, I'll stick with my music from the 80's.
This. There is no great future for music ahead of us. The 1980's holds the key to musical genius.

Listening to the new Gorillaz track now. Thanks for the heads up about that. I'm not a huge fan of this song, but there's always been something about this group I like.

Surely if you liked the music produced in the 80s you're in the best era besides the 80s to hear it??!?!?Lots of 80s influenced stuff knocking about recently

I think Shellac played some new stuff recently at ATP just gone, it sounded good.

Also, I know this is knitpicky of me but Gorrilaz is a solo project, not a band :( *I have to everytime someone says group or band, it does my head in for no reason, please hate me for it.. it's the only way I'll learn*

Coheed and Cambria are coming out with something, too. Linky! [http://www.coheedandcambria.com/us/yotbr]

I'm incredibly excited by the new Gorillaz album, too. 2010's shaping up to be an awesome year in music, IMO.

I predict people will still be whining about mainstream music vs. indie music.
Going out on a limb there...
I know, but I'm a big risk-taker. Why, just yesterday I ate a bowl of cereal WITH A BIGGER SPOON THAN USUAL!

My predicition: Plastic Beach will come out and still have nothing on Heartland, because all Plastic Beach will be is a CD filled with pictures of fucking ants.
