2011 has been a pretty good year for music, despite the shitty state of mainstream music these days. So, which album do think takes the cake for best of 2011? I'll give my top 3:
1. The Black Keys: El Camino
One of the best albums I've heard in a long time, especially considering that it's only been a year since Brothers. This is one of those albums where every song on it is amazing, and they all feel right together. The album cover and design (it's a foldout) also deserves a mention; it's pretty great.
2. Cage The Elephant: Thank You Happy Birthday
An excellent departure from the style of their first album; their style has shifted to a heavier rock and a louder, more distorted sound. Save Japanese Buffalo, this album is near-perfect with a wide variety of subjects and sound.
3. Foo Fighters: Wasting Light
It's FF at their best. Easily one of their best albums so far.
