The first line of text already hurted me, being the history nut I am. The Mayans being man's earliests civilisation.....not by a LOOOOOONG shot. Mesopotamia already had cities (the world's first) in 6000 BC, unlike the Mayans who began in 2500 BC.

Anyway, it's a trailer, and I promised myself not to get hyped by trailers alone, especially for movies. But I gotta say, an aircraft carrier getting dumped on the White House...awesome. Plus I hope we have such spaceships in 2012, well not for the same goal, but I'd love to see some extraterrestial colonisation started.

This is made by the same person who made Day After Tomorrow, and 10,000 BC.

They were both pretty in the adverts, but sucked ultimately.

Don't hold your breath for this one, lads.
I certainly am not. I don't know, 2012 almost irritated me in a sense, not sure why, probably because I'm sick of hearing of it.
Yeah, I agree. In a sadistic and sick way though... I kind of WANT something to happen on 2012, so I can dispel my existential qualms and find that there is an order and finality to our world. Maybe then I could take up religion :)

As far as the film goes, it will just end up being a CGI fun-fest, with all the bits you've just seen in the advert being key moments in the film. I mean, it's not like theres much story to be had that can't be gleaned from the advert.

Debates on whether the world will end are taking place-> Man has family -> idyllic if not perfect existence with family is shattered by the end of the world -> man goes on desperate struggle to survive with family-> government has some sort of exodus plan to leave earth that the man knows of/finds out about -> man desperately tries to get there -> kids make it on but man doesn't,

or

they don't make it on, the ship leaves, explodes, and then the end of the world stops, leaving man, his family, and the remnants of humanity to rebuild and survive for yet another millenia or two, building a pyramid predicting another event like this, purely to torture a far reaching future generation with the seeds of apocalyptic storytelling.

*gasp*

Some good looking CGI in there, which is probably gonna be the main draw for me, i like John Cusack but if he's gotta cart arounda couple of kids for 2 hours it might detract from the situation.
Hopefully it's good, i did enjoy Godzilla and Independance day personally.

However, it's one of those trailers that essentially shows the ENTIRE movie.
Yeah. You're right. I hate trailers that do that, though. I mean, I just love walking into a movie like this with almost no background knowledge of the film, it makes the movie experience a lot more enjoyable!

Great! Another apocalypse movie from the man who brought me Independence Day. And Godzilla. And the Day After Tomorrow.
I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not! Independence Day was good, but of course it had Will Smith and Jeff Goldblum in it, so.....

Dunno if I'll see this in theatres but I'll definitely see it at some point

All those conspiracy theorist nerds will see this as a warning or some sort of public information message. But it does look quite cool.

I thought the disaster movie of the year was He's Just Not That Into You. Anyway, the trailer hast it wrong, the Mayans weren't the earliest civilization, and it's just idiotic to suppose they'd be staging mass killings in 2012.

And besides, everyone knows that by 2012 there'll be flying cars, we'll be eating pills for breakfast, and robots will be our servants. The movie is just dumb.

I'm not exactly being sarcastic. The three movies I cited all have their moments, intentional or not. I legitimately enjoyed Independence Day, and the other two movies literally use the exact same pacing and foruma to drive the plot yet neither a giant lizard nor an ice age are a match for an alien invasion. Godzilla at least had Hank Azaria (of Simpsons fame) and Jean Reno and had at least a few entertaining moments. The Day After Tomorrow was seemingly unintentionally hilarious (Like when the father struggles agains the odds to make it to New York to rescue his son. A friend and I realized the absurdity of what was going on. The hero was going to show up without any real capacity to solve any problem). Neither Godzilla or The Day After Tomorrow are what I would call "good movies" but I do possess the unnatural ability to legitimately enjoy most bad movies (Gin and a group of like minded friends really help. Also, having the memories of MST3K burned forever into my mind. . . )

How can they keep using the same lines in every darn movie! 'The end is just the beginning'? How original. >.<

Looks cool, if your sane you don't believe it but nevertheless its worth a watch.
Especially if you do a tad bit of research into. Although, my favorite part of it all is that the guy who made the "2012 theory" screwed the count up and is several days off.

John Cussack was in 1408 in 2007. That stephen king adaptation. Anyway, he's a great actor, and this movie looks immmmennnssee. Forget Knowing and Transformers 2, 2012 is going to be the best diaster movie of the year.
Transformers 2 was'nt a disaster film!!!

But this just looks bloody ridiculous.
It looks like a bloody parody!

Visuals look great... But why couldn't they get good actors?
Better yet, why couldn't they have read up on the Mayan Prophecy properly and not even make the film. That way, the actors wouldn't be a problem.
