Snoop Dogg Teams Up With Norton to Say: "Hack is Wack"

Rap superstar Snoop Dogg is joining forces with Norton to stop cybercrime once and for all.

Cybercrime is no joke anymore. Now, even big Snoop Dogg is so sick of getting spam emails from male enhancement retailers that he's teamed up with Norton [http://www.amazon.com/Norton-Internet-Security-2010-1-User/dp/B002L7BR20/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=software&qid=1283397214&sr=8-2] to help get the word out that "Hack is Wack."

In the recently announced "Hack is Wack" anti-cybercrime contest, anyone that also thinks hack is wack has a chance to show the world. Snoop Dogg is inviting rappers to spit their best verses in a two-minute rap video and then to upload them at hackiswack.com [http://www.hackiswack.com/].

The raps can cover anything from hacking, to viruses, to spam email, to tapping into your neighbor's wireless internet connection. There are already a few uploads, and they're real gems, let me tell you.

The rapper that can prove hack is the most wack will get a trip for two to Los Angeles to meet with Snoop Dogg's "management," where they will be given tips on how to become more successful. The winner will also receive tickets to a Snoop Dogg concert and a laptop with Norton Internet Security 2011 installed. The contest runs until the end of September, and as Snoop Dogg puts it, it's all in the name of fun, fo'shizzle.

You know, hack really is wack, isn't it? I had never thought of it in such unrestrained terms before. Thanks, Snoop Dogg.

So we've gone from "Crack is Wack," to "Hack is Wack." Hmm...

Methinks Mr. Dogg has crossed over into the realm of the nerdy and geekdom. Man the paddles! An initiation is required over here!

Does the more in the sign refer to the fact that norton is more a virus itself than an antivirus program? It is easily the worst antivirus program ever and imppossible to get rid of when you realize that.

I heard that he's going to start a campaign against yellow ghost eating spheres: pac-is-wack, and also eating between meals: snack-is-wack.

Ugh, i hate this argument.

If you can't get rid of Norton properly then you shouldn't install it. Removing Norton simply requires making sure you remove ALL the files yourself, and not use the express uninstall option it comes with.

Yeah, you shouldn't have to do that, sure. But its not /that/ hard to get rid of.

How no one has mentioned Don't Copy That Floppy [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=up863eQKGUI] yet is beyond me. That was already in my head before finishing reading the headline, much less the article.

Wow, this is the most surreal news I've heard this week. o_O

Anyway, its good that Snoop Dog recognizes the dangers of hackers and cyber crime.

Great, doesn't change the fact that it causes far more problems than it fixes though.

Yes, because this will cause the hackers to change their ways, they were waiting for Snoop Dog. God, I feel like going and learning how to hack right now just so I can hack snoop dog. The list of things I dislike more then rap can be counted on one hand, and genocide doesn't make that list if it gives anyone her an idea.

You had a typo
Replace
"If you can't get rid of Norton properly then you shouldn't install it."
with
"Norton, you shouldn't install it."

If the programmers did such a hack job of the uninstaller what gives you the slightest confidence in its ability to do anything else. Go with AVG or really anything else, also don't use IE if it can be avoided. Keep in mind I have no misconception that chrome or firefox are faultless, but a great deal of the security bugs and "viruses" out there rely on the user using IE.

Back to my original comment.
When was the last time anyone got a male enhancement ad? I have been getting nonstop Cataclysm invitations and Aion account action required notifications almost exclusively (despite having no aion account)

well I suppose a failed rapper would team-up with a failed AV makes sense, but it seems to me that Snop and NAV are desperate for some attention

I'd be more worried when Dr. Dre comes onboard. Then again, Snoop did recently blow up an armored car for Zynga & Mafia Wars...
