Yeah like past games, you have to activate the actual ending by interacting with the titular object. This is also the time to make USB backup to save scum any endings you’ve met the conditions for.

Plus once you beat the beast you can make a weapon from its remembrance that makes farming runes a breeze to bulk up on levels and gear the fight the others. Have you been to the subterranean blood pool area yet?
"subterranean blood pool area"? You mean the Lake of Rot? If so, I made it there, I backed off and went elsewhere; Astel is not a boss I'm looking forward to fighting, and as long as it's optional, I'm in no rush.

Not the rot pool, it’s the one underneath Caelid (or eastern Limgrave maybe?) with the Mohg boss. Blood everywhere, but at least it’s not poisonous!

Both are optional though and only required for different endings.

Not really any hard resolutions, but right now my goals are:
-Do a 3-rune ascension of a pure caster, and maybe a 15-rune ascension of another class on Stone Soup: Dungeon Crawl. (Think I'm probably going to give up on this one. I just don't get this game, magic just sucks compared to melee).
-Do another ascension on Evil Hack
-Finish 13 Sentinels
-Finally play Cult of the Lamb whenever that second content update comes out.

As always, it is that I want to play more new (to me) games.

I have earmarked 236 games that I own, that I either haven't played, or haven't finished.

I'd like to make some decent headway into this list.

There are also a few classics (to me) that I would like to revisit. A) for that sweet nostalgia, and B) to see if they still hold up.

Last year, I managed 31 games (new and replayed)

Do at least one video essay about a video gaming topic.

I will not play gacha games for a year, no matter how tempting

An adjustment to my original is to buy beloved or interesting games that I maybe wasn't keen on if they're on deep discount on Steam and Deck compatible.

Firewatch is 2 bucks. People freaking love this game. It's a first-person walking sim? Not my style... but was always curious to see what the big deal was.

I was searching through these forums and found out that you, @Old_Hunter_77 , started a similar thread a year ago:
Inspired by one of the recent Escapist podcasts, let's pick some "New Year's Resolutions" we might have for 2023. I have two for myself:
[---]
1. Complete 3 Critically Acclaimed Indy Darlings
[---]
If I beat HK then other games like this are: Celeste, Neon White, Outer Wilds, Dead Cells, and the Oris.

2. Make a good youtube video
I want to try my hand at video editing. Since I know Witcher 3 in painful detail and the upgrade finally came out, I want to try putting together some guides that, despite the preponderance of W3 content on youtube, I feel are still missing. Even if I fail to actually produce one, it will give me an appreciation for the work that goes into some of the videos I have enjoyed.
How did things turn out?

Play the following games.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth.

Wuthering Waves.

Dragon Dogma 2.

And get Baluders Gate 2 when it's discounted.

Mod Starfield.

And hope there is one game where Space Combat is done right that isn't Elite Dangerous.

Ooh nice find...
Well, I completely failed the first one. I tried but I hit a wall and now that I think about it perhaps my resolution for this year is a reaction- instead of "forcing" myself to push through things I wasn't enjoying I'm trusting my gut.

On #2 I did put a couple of things that were like works in progress at some point but got some annoying comments pushed me away and then I got busy with other stuff and never came back and forgot about it.

Maybe that's why my only NYE resolutions are for video games because they're not important (I stopped making fitness ones a long time ago and then got fitter. Coincidence? Yes)
