Multiplatform Release of Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light Will Lack Online Co-Op

History seems to be repeating itself as just like the Xbox 360 version, the PC and PS3 versions of the Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light have had their online multiplayer options cut.

Much like their Xbox 360 counterparts, anyone who grabs the new Lara Croft game on PS3 or PC later this month and wants to indulge in some co-operative tomb raiding action had better have his or her buddy in the room.

In a press release put out to promote the game's launch on the PS3 and PC, Crystal Dynamics revealed that online co-op would be coming to the PC and PS3 versions of the Lara Croft at some unspecified, "later date." The Xbox 360 version was supposed to be getting the feature patched back in on the same day as the multiplatform release, but whether that's still the case isn't clear.

When the delay was announced last month, Crystal Dynamics' head of franchise development Karl Stewart said that the studio didn't want online co-op to be the weak link in the chain, and presumably this is the case with the PC and PS3 versions as well. It's hard to say what affect this will have on sales, but it's almost certainly not going to be positive.

" It's hard to say what affect this will have on sales,"

It'll hurt the PC ones a lot I'm guessing. PC gamers don't tend to care about the disappearance of split-screen for a reason.

Between this and the Goldeneye remake, is Splitscreen being brought back to life? One can only hope, right?

Silly comment is silly. The game's had a very positive reception and held a lot of interest from gamers.

Crystal Dynamics should relase an online co-op patch for all versions, free of charge. If it's not free, I'm not downloading it.

Same goes for Modern Warfare 2, that game is still ass despite that.

Yes, but CoD is CoD. You were saying that no one cared about Tomb Raider any more when evidently that's not true. Not that either of us commented on the game's quality anyway, so your comparison is invalid.

notice how the title of the game does not have "tomb raider" anywhere near it.

this game plays more like diablo than tomb raider.
online multiplayer being missing is the sole reason i have not purchased it.

I dunno about that 'no comment on quality' stuff you're talking about, but alright.
You said no one gives a crap, meaning that regardless of quality people don't care about the game. I said the game's had a lot of interest.

We're not talking about quality, we're talking about interest and buzz around the games. Then in your comparison to CoD you comment on MW2's quality. See what I'm getting at?

EDIT: just saw the highlighted bit. The point of the comment was that there's evidently interest, I wasn't saying it's got good reviews so it must be a good game.

Will that make it cheaper?
Hahaha of course not. Sure didn't change the 360 version price.

Anyway this is just reason number 2 I won't buy this game. (#1 is I don't like the idea of giving Square Enix even a single cent of my money)
