Witcher 2 Shows Off Its Varied Gameplay in Stealthy and Stabby Video [NSFW]

There's more than one way to bust out of jail, which is pretty much the point of a new video for the Witcher 2.

Dark fantasy RPG The Witcher 2 [http://www.amazon.com/Witcher-2-Assassins-Kings-Pc/dp/B003VJNPPE/ref=sr_1_1?s=gateway&ie=UTF8&qid=1285263764&sr=8-1] shares the same non-linear structure as its predecessor, where a choice made at the beginning of the game might have terrible - or terrific - consequences later on. The Witcher 2 takes it a little further though, by giving players more options than just combat, as is deftly shown in a new gameplay video.

The video - which contains a few seconds of exposed breasts, so probably isn't safe for work or school - is designed to demonstrate the non-linear gameplay and story progession in The Witcher 2, and shows main character Geralt's friends telling the tale of how he escaped from a prison cell. Each story is slightly different, showing off the various ways of approaching and handling the same situation. We also get a look at some of Geralt's magic, which includes spells to snuff out torches and see people through walls.

While the conversation between Geralt's friends and a few sections in the jailbreak itself are scripted, the rest looks like actual gameplay. It seems like The Witcher 2 has more options than the first game did, and the stealth section looks pretty well implemented.

The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings is scheduled for release early next year.

Can't make my mind up about this.

The writing and voice acting were pretty dire in the demo I saw.

This looks amazing! I loved the first Witcher and I'm pretty sure I'll love this too. Although I'm a bit worried they'll overdo the stealth, making it more like a chore. Meh, It still looks awesome.

Loved the first, and I hope CD Projekt puts the same loving craftsmanship into this installment (and here's hoping it's not overshadowed by other releases...again)

(I also sincerely hope they've made the combat more engaging. *click* - *click* - *click*...not too great. if they remedy that, I'm sold on this)

Hmm, climbing over obstacles, check. Stealth kills, check. Insta-kill counters, check.

I wonder why they put the word "Assassin" in the title, ;).

I agree with that. The combat was a bit generic, but the story and enviroment was absolutely top notch. I am so stoked for this!

Looks pretty good, although nothing here screams RPG. A bloody lot like Assassins Creed.

Can't decide if that's good or not.

And I have been beaten to the punch here.

I couldn't play the first Witcher. The story looked interesting but the click-based combat system turned me away. Hopefully they've revamped this in the sequel. I hate it when everything about a game is amazing except for the gameplay itself.

Looking good, moving away from the Aurora engine seems to have paid off so far. Wish they had shown in game so I could see if they've they ditched the nasty neverwinter nights style interface and combat.

Looks a bit meh. Also NSFR?

A criminal breaks out of jail while murdering guards is ok. Some tits aren't?

a lot of the problems in the witcher were greatly improved when the massive enhanced edition patch came out.

as far as the combat goes it opens up as the game goes on but even then it becomes very obvious that you aren't going to do well relying the swordplay mechanic alone. correct use of the Witchers magical "signs" makes the combat much better (even if they tend to be overpowered evntually)
I did play the enhanced edition but still, for a game that relies so heavily on combat it was really poorly done.

Gameplay. Don't watch. Avoid spoiler. Take a deep breath. Don't watch. You can do it!

I wait for this game with great anticipation, and i don't want to know anything about gameplay.
