I have to wonder, since I saw it... Who would use their iphone as a vibrator?
Indeed, the word bucket comes to mind.

OT: I don't see why apple can't allow this sort of thing, most other media platforms have them.

I just watched a video review of iGirl and I was definitely disappointed. I was expecting something that's on the fence as to porn or not-porn, but it was definitely on the side of not-porn. The 3D graphics of it are primitive and blocky; considering that curves are a part of the attractiveness of women, that's definitely a serious setback for the girl's sexual appeal. The options that were shown for what the girl can wear and what she can do are very limited, making it seem like the "re-playability" of the program can be counted based on how much time you have divided by how many options there are multiplied by how many friends you haven't shown it to. And that's what I really see the appeal of the game: show it off to your friends. Even though it will not satisfy any man's lust for women, it will allow the man to show off his "girl" to his friends and get a quick "Woooo, nice!" from them.

All in all, it's a gimmick for the iPhone that will give you another reason to show off the phone to your friends. Sex appeal? No. High-fives-from-friends appeal? Yes.

It raises an interesting point though, Nintendo is happy to give a seal of approval to incredibly violent games. What if developers used similar ratings here?

one thing about an adult game on a cell phone is that it would probably be easy to play one handed (insert rimshot here).

Anyway, since Christianity will always be the dominant religious group in the U.S., and because Fox News will always be staffed by panicky nut job Mass Erectors, we can expect adult games to never exist outside of sketchy websites and Japan (and maybe not even there, if current trends continue).
As for censorship, don't worry about it. Time has proven again and again that porn flows throughout higher civilizations. No need to worry about losing yours just cause a bunch of people in suburbia yell at their non-existent senators not to pass that one UN treaty (United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child)that loosens free speech to be available to all, including porn.

I'm far more concerned that a government official can examine your mail, and if they see anything they don't like you can be charged under our horribly vague and overbroad obscenity laws.

Honestly, I don't see why people should bother getting so upset. There are options for putting porn on your phone. You can either jailbreak your iPhone or buy an Android phone. However, keep in mind that pornographic applications are an easy vector for various malware because people so readily install such apps without thinking. So, proceed at your own risk.

(Is there a legitimate developer of porn application that doesn't hide some kind of spyware or other malware to either steal your personal information or turn your computer/device into a botnet zombie?)

As I just wrote that, I think I understand why some people may be upset. They may be thinking "wouldn't it be nice, for once, to have a source of porn apps and not have to be so worried about spyware and malware in it".

For those that think churches are against sex to the point of ending the human race(if your Mother and Father didn't do it, chance are you won't either), let me provide a different possibility on the issue. What they are against is not sex itself. Rather, what they are against is sex being cheapened to the point that it is no different from just going out and grabbing a six-pack of beer from the grocery store on the weekend. This is because the church generally sees sex and sexuality as something special and intimate that is only to be shared between two people that have been united in mind, body, and spirit(i.e. married).

Also, there are significant consequences surrounding sex. Not only is there the unplanned pregnancy issue, there are a lot of emotional and relational issues surrounding sex(why do you think people get upset when their significant other is found to be cheating on them?), which can cause a lot of trauma and conflict. Some people have had their lives ruined over sex. Even today, we just don't deal well with these issues because of a certain immaturity with regards to sex and sexuality.

It is our lack of maturity, even today, when dealing with sex and sexuality that allows the church to validly maintain a more archaic stance of preaching abstinence with little explanation or insight given(try reasoning with a 2-year-old without eventually ending up saying "cause I said so"; can be rather difficult to do). Of course, one could argue that a good reason for this immaturity is because of our constant repression of sexuality and unwillingness to really discuss it in a mature forum.

What I'm getting at is that we need to set aside the "let me do whatever I want" attitude and consider that there may be some merit and reasoning to the exhortations of the church, even if they may be taken to extremes, to find the middle ground between abstinence and promiscuity.

EDIT: Apologies for duplicate post. The first attempt seemed, at least from my end, to have floated straight into the aether.

Heh. I feel I ought to link to this decidedly NSFW story from the Register [http://www.theregister.co.uk/2012/01/26/ipad_fleshlight_design/] here. When you can actually knob your iPad (and let's face it, any device that lets you download and play video is going to let you download and play x-rated video) you've already lost the moral battle.

Sorry. I'm all for less censorship and more boobies, but the conclusion this article is trying to prop up just doesn't hold water. As you say, the PC/Internet has been a completely open platform all this time now. We've had over 20 years to perfect sex games, in fact we've had as long as computers have existed. If they're not "good" yet by this point, it's probably because making them good was never a requirement. Not because we haven't thrown enough money and skilled developers at the problem.

Anyway, adult games tend to have Uncanny Valley issues to begin with. The last thing they need is to be ported to Mobile.

(Captcha: 'blaze a trail.' heh. I have a filthy mind.)
