Update: Trailer for Schwarzenegger's The Governator Cartoon Surfaces

Former Californian governor Arnold Schwarzenegger confirmed that he is planning a comic book penned by Stan Lee, plus a TV cartoon series, videogame and film.

Update: Video of the trailer for The Governator cartoon has surfaced. Yeah, it's just amazingly bad, from the Larry King cameo to the poor Black Eyed Peas song to the annoying use of the "I'll be back" catchphrase - twice.

Someone please prevent this atrocity from happening, I'm having Captain Planet flashbacks.

Original post: Arnold Schwarzenegger has definitely had a storied career from bodybuilding champion to muscled fantasy hero (Conan) to 80s actions star to 90s comedy star to the governor of California to ... comic book superhero? The Escapist reported [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/108905-Schwarzenegger-Becomes-Bodybuilding-Batman-in-Stan-Lees-Governator] that Schwarzenegger was working with comic book legend Stan Lee to create The Governator that would be based on the former governor's real life but with the twist that he's a costumed superhero fighting crime at night. Schwarzenegger not only confirmed The Governator was not an April Fool's joke at the Cannes Film Festival this weekend, but actually a multi-pronged property that will soon invade your TV, game consoles and cinema multiplexes in addition to your friendly local comic book store.

"First will come comic books, then a TV series and after that we will develop the games and then a movie," Schwarzenegger said. "Maybe then we'll be back in Cannes for that."

Not likely.

Schwarzenegger also revealed that many high-profile actors as well as "politicians, tycoons and businessmen" will lend their vocal talents to the show, including Larry King. The "retired" talk show host will play an investigative reporter as a recurring character in The Governator cartoon show.

Is anyone else a bit concerned that Schwarzenegger is trying to cash in on the fact that he won a democratic election? I don't think that's what the people of California had in mind when they elected him to replace governor Gray Davis back in 2003.

To be honest, I have no idea what they actually did have in mind voting for Schwarzenegger other than a lark so The Governator is probably what we deserve.

Well, Arnie, I hope for your sake that that videogame bill you backed won't go through, lest your potential future videogame career become hindered.

And you already are a masked man, what with your ability to pretend to be all fiscally conservative and then turn around and go all "SPEND YOUR MONEY TO FIGHT GLOBAL WARMING OR THIS KID WILL FAINT AND THE GOV'T SHOULD SPEND TIME AND MONEY MAKING SURE KIDS DON'T PLAY DA BAD GAMES!"

If his game has the least bit of violence in it I hope the entire fucking gaming community brutally attacks him for it.

I don't think I've ever sighed so much after reading anything (except maybe The Dark Knight Strikes Again). This is just... just wow

My reaction to this as a joke: heh, heh...I'm gona go make a ham sandwich.

My new reaction: This is really, really awful. I'm gona go make a ham sandwich.

Know what, I'm really excited about this.

It has the potential to be the most ridiculously awesome thing ever, either because it's going to blow away all our expectations, or it's just going to be ludicrously bad.

If they do this with A LOT of tongue in cheek it could work, like with Adam West. Perhaps. Well, I hope so, it's been so long since he was the star of a good movie. I miss him.

If it's an intentional self-parody it could be funny, that might require having Jesse Ventura as a prominent recurring character :D

He's waiting till he's out of office for this so let the guy give it a shot, it'll probably fail but it could be a surprise hit. Don't throw a stone till you can clearly see the target!!

Not an April Fool's joke? Trying to cash in? Corny name? Retarded outfit? Yep, this completely makes sense in a world where Snooki wrestles at Wrestlemania and slaping a girl on the ass is worse than repeated homicide.
