My fellow Escapists, I ask you this: D'you know about any nice .22's? I've been looking for a .22 caliber revolver, any brand. I want one that won't give me troubles and shoots straight, preferably a barrel of about 6 inches. I prefer the "modern" style, with a grip shaped to fit a hand instead of smooth. I am not a fan of gate-loaders. I also want my wallet to live through this. Anyone happen to know of any guns close to my descriptions?

what are you looking to do with it?
Just shooting at the range, I'm in the big city so I don't have any pests or anything else to shoot at.

I can't help you on the grips, because every revolver I've ever seen had the shoe horn grip going for it. Then again grips you can always swap out to something else if you really want. For .22 I do like Rugers, but that might just be me.

I have my grandpa's old one, but it's pretty crummy. If you're looking for revolvers, I generally suggest Ruger or Smith and Wesson, though I'm not a big fan of them.

What an odd site to ask this question.
I came to many a guns forum, and have gone through about 25-30 pages of both Google and Yahoo searches. I came to this site because it's a forum with an awesome community, and I have seen quite afew gun-related threads before, so I know I'm not the only gun nut here. I figured I may have been able to get some reccomendations, like this:

Thanks, Johnnyallstar. I have finally made my decision on the U22 Neos. It's definetely not a revolver, but I just can't get over how damn cool it is. It's accurate and reliable, plus it looks like it should be shooting little red lasers out the end. Again, thanks for the sggestions, Johnny, I'm pretty sure my second gun will be a spinner, and I appreciate your thoughts on my future purchases.

This is my brothers gun, http://www.heritagemfg.com/site/department.cfm?id=50

Heritage isn't one of the biggest gun manufactures. but this is one of the best revolvers we have.
He had one with 3inch barrel, but traded it for a 6inch.
It has interchangeable .22 long rifle and .22 magnum cylinders. Very easy to operate and clean.

I have this one, http://www.gunblast.com/images/Cimarron-Plinkerton/DSC06105.JPG

Its basically the same as my brothers, just has a shorter barrel and is made by Plinkerton.

Had some problems with jamming when I first got it, but now it works fine.

I recommend the Heritage though.

No problemo, I can always talk about guns haha. That Beretta should do you good though, Beretta always makes a damn good gun.
Well in THAT case, I will refer to your first comment, and ask you what kind of guns you like, and what are some good ones to get? I don't think there's much of a chance of me stopping with my .22, and I want to know some other stuff to refer to. Smaller guns like pistols and bolt-actions are my favorites so far, but I want to try a shotgun at some point too. I love trying new things though, and once I scrape up a job I'm probably going to be getting more boomsticks.

Heh, well, I've always felt more comfortable with a pistol, and my favorite that I've played with is the Springfield 1911A1, which is the military spec. Unlike the vast majority of 1911s, the mil spec isn't made out of stamped steel, but bar stock, so it's much more solid feeling than almost every other 1911 out there.

For shotties, I grew up shooting Remingtons, but Benelli probably makes the best out there if you don't mind the spring feeling loose. Remington isn't quite as top notch as Benelli, but they cost much less.

As for bolt actions, I was going to buy a Tikka T3 or Icon, but I stumbled upon a once in a lifetime gun that I couldn't let slide by. For about $600, Tikka has a fantastic feel and a clean look. Tikka utilizes an incredibly smooth Beretta action and the only cold forged barrels left in the world.

My bolt is a custom Winchester 70, that has been heavily modified but I bought it used for well under what it was worth.
