New Vegas DLC is Just Waiting For the Patch

Bethesda Softworks says the new Fallout: New Vegas [http://www.amazon.com/Fallout-New-Vegas-Pc/dp/B002SU4QG4/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1302640938&sr=8-4] DLC is ready to go but won't be released until the next big patch comes out.

The world got a very brief glance over the weekend at what is purportedly the next DLC release for Fallout: New Vegas when it blipped onto YouTube [http://www.duckandcover.cx/forums/viewtopic.php?t=25132] without warning and then quickly disappeared. What's it all about? Aside from a name - Honest Hearts - nobody knows, but Senior Producer Jason Bergman says we'll find out soon enough. Right after the upcoming patch, to be precise.

"Our next DLC release (announcement coming very soon, we promise) has been complete while we worked on getting a patch ready for you all. We didn't want to just release more DLC before we had a patch that would improve the overall New Vegas experience," he wrote on the Bethesda forums [http://forums.bethsoft.com/index.php?/topic/1179411-an-update-from-bethesda/]. "The good news is that we do have such a patch and it's been handed off to the necessary platform owners. It should be released in the next couple of weeks on 360, PS3 and PC (can't be more specific than that, I'm afraid, although PC will almost certainly get it first)."

The patch will include bug fixes but the focus is on "optimization and stability improvements," Bergman wrote. "We worked directly with first-party platform owners to identify issues, and we have fixed a great deal of the crashes and lockups that people were experiencing. In addition, we scoured the forums and this patch includes weapon balance tweaks and other requested fixes."

Bethesda will watch the forums for other issues following the release of the patch, he added, noting that another update is planned after this one. He also apologized for the "radio silence" and expressed hopes that gamers will appreciate the results of the work that's gone into the patch."We have some pretty cool stuff coming soon," he wrote. "Stay tuned!"

I'm still going to wait until DLC that lets me continue after the big battle before I get back into the game. Hopefully, this content will do that.

They said they weren't going to do that. Too much alternate endings to implement all of them.

OT: I'm going to wait for all DLC to go out, then reinstall New Vegas with all patches and start anew. I only need to avoid spoilers.

I wonder when the Escapist was going to report this.

I saw the trailer and then shat my pants. Too bad it went private and then went BLOOP!

Hey great, maybe the patch will finally let me get ED-E back into my party without him attacking me. As for the DLC though, looking forward to it since I was one of the people who actually liked Dead Money.

What they need to do is give the people who made the unofficial patches money, hire them, and make that unofficial patch official.

Hopefully it doesn't kill mods like Fallout 3's 1.5 update. Its why I don't let New Vegas update automatically. Or that would be the plan, if Steam didn't keep fucking resetting the option from "never update" to "always update".

At last an announcment on the new dlc, glad to here they are delaying for a big patch, hopefully that will mean a smooth release. Though I may wait till all the dlcs have been released, after 200 hours I'm a bit burnt out with new vegas.

Knowing Bethesda it means that the game might work a bit better until you actually download dlc.
I'm glad they finally came to their senses and realized that we aren't going to buy dlc for a game that doesn't work. That was just insulting.
I don't even care about dlc at this point. I'll just be glad if I can make it through a playthrough without constant crashing and glitches.

At the same time it's kind of sad that they couldn't make the game playable until half a year after the actual launch.

As with all DLC I'm going to give it a breathing space after release, so I can gauge how good it is and give them a chance to fix bugs in it...

...I've been burned already with the Dead Money DLC which I can't play due to a glitch...

New Canann! Here I come, I hope I get to fight The Burned Man!
What makes you think it's in New canann? As in, what info do you have to support that guess.

OT: I dunno, I played New Vegas on the PC unpatched and it was pretty okay. Lots'a crashes, and I suppose THAT could be fixed, but no visual glitch, fuck-ups like on the Xbox. I'd say just release the PC version now; Patch, Smatch.

My game probably only crashed cause I had like 40 mods installed anyway...

I want to see the patchnotes. Honestly, I'm much more excited about the idea of a gameplay patch then additional DLC. New patch might mean the game won't randomly freeze.

I would hope for a patch to fix the crashes I've experienced in Fallout 3 (even going so far as to corrupt my auto-save file after a few hours of leaning on Autosave), but I'm not going to hold my breath. Make New Vegas more stable.

My god though, I can't wait for Fallout 4 using Skyrim's engine... Oh, I'm giddy just thinking about it.

If the patch makes my heavy incinerator and Annabelle actually able to damage enemies again then I will go back to playing it. Having to snipe with my laser rifle or kill with ballistic fists only is still fun, but I took pyromaniac and splash damage perks for a reason dammit v_v

If the patch can fix this one time I nearly beat the game, went to a brotherhood bunker and found it had been blown up before I even got there, I'll be happy. As of now I've still not bought the first DLC, and may wait to see what the total 8 will be. Hopefully something good.
