Bruce Campbell Confirms New Evil Dead Film - UPDATED

Alright, you primitive screwheads, listen up: a new Evil Dead movie is on the way.

Talk about a new Army of Darkness [http://www.amazon.com/Evil-Dead-Blu-ray-Bruce-Campbell/dp/B003IY48PS/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1310493251&sr=8-2], was in Detroit to start work on a fourth film. Evil Dead 4, according to the report, will be "a small indie thing like the first two."

That's good news, albeit still a rumor - but a rumor that got a big boost late last night by way of a tweet from none other than Bruce "Ash" Campbell, B-movie legend, best Elvis ever [http://www.amazon.com/Bubba-Ho-Tep-Limited-Collectors-Campbell/dp/B0001LQJMQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1310493364&sr=8-1] and of course the "hero," as far as that goes, of the Evil Dead franchise.

"Believe in the remake, dawg!" he wrote [http://twitter.com/GroovyBruce/status/90613906963312640]. "The project is real. In the works. Cool as hell. Scary as hell."

I'm not sure if the Evil Dead films qualify as scary, but cool as hell? Definitely. And a chance to watch Campbell smash things over his own head again? Take my money, please.

UPDATE: In a follow-up tweet, Campbell clarified that the new Evil Dead film is in fact a remake of the original Evil Dead and not an all-new chapter. "Good people. My tweet was about remaking Evil Dead - not Evil Dead 4," he wrote [http://twitter.com/GroovyBruce/status/90905601986662400]. Campbell's role in the project is not yet known.

It also appears that while Sam Raimi will be involved, Bloody Disgusting [http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1793079/], Alvarez came to attention with the 2009 short film Ataque de pánico! [Panic Attack!]

Why host Oscars the year this is released? It'll take EVERY nomination home. Even Animation. And Foreign.

I can't tell if this is a remake or a sequel, since they've said both, but i'm excited either way.

I'd say the movies are scary in a comedic way. If you've watched "Drag me to hell" alot of the "Horror" aspects have a nearly comical take to all of it, as well as the other movies.

Also, Bruce Campbell in anything = win, whether its a movie based off him, or Burn Notice.
+1

Indeed, great news to hear that Evil Dead 4 is on the way.
Bruce, i will see you next time i will be watch ing Burn Notice.

Awwwwwwwwww Yeaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh!

There has been a distinct lack of Campbell. A disturbing lack some might say.
What about Burn Notice?

OT: I think this sums it up nicely

They're really making another Evil Dead movie? Groovy. We've certainly waited long enough.

Whats the number for remaking and or retconning a single movie? This will be number 4 for evil dead. But since I've liked everything Bruce has done from Bubba Hottep to Alien Apocalypse and I've liked everything Sam has done from Xena to Drag Me To Hell(Since Spiderman 3 never came out *lalalala* I can't hear you) I'll still wind up seeing this.

Yay! They are adding another movie to a popular franchise that hasn't seen a new movie for 20 years.

I mean, this idea is due for something other than an absolute fuck-up, right?
