I just finished watching The Number 23 and began thinking of coincidences in my life with the number.

I finished the movie at 10:07. Today's date is the 6th. 10+7+6=23

Today is August 6, 2009. August has 6 letters. 6+6+2+0+0+9=23

The year of my birthday is 1994. 1+9+9+4=23

The date of my birthday is June 27. June has 4 letters. 27-4=23

My street address (Which for obvious reasons I'm not going to post) adds up to 23

When you add the letters of my street into that number, you get 32, 23 backwards.

I'm graduating high school in 2012. 20+1+2=23

My join date on The Escapist was January 4, 2009. 14+9=23
------------------------

These are the ones I can come up with off the top of my head, but I'm sure there are plenty more, and as I realize them, I'll add them to my list.

But the discussion topic is, how many events in your life coordinate with The Number 23?

There was a thread about this like less than a month ago:

It got flamed a lot, rightfully in my opinion because this is just a load of bullcrap. Oh my god that sentence had 69 letters, 69/3 = 23! OH MY GOD ITS A CONSPIRACY AND A PROPHECY

GRAB YOUR TINFOIL HATS (and take this stuff elsewhere please)

[In retrospect] Maybe all-nighters aren't so good for my overall mood after all :)

You could probably do this with some other number. Or a colour. Or a letter.
Search hard enough for connections to anything ever, and you will begin to find them.

You might want to recheck the math on the first one. Unless I severely miscounted, that's 14.

EDIT:Scratch that, you changed "1+0" to "10".

Actually, the 23 enigma is a strange phenomenon. While you are right in saying you can likely find connections for anything if you look hard enough, the number 23 is remarkably good at getting everywhere.

Yes, but that one was based on specific things in the world, whereas this post is centered around shit in your life.

Where did the 14 come from?
January = First Month. Day was the 4th. 14

January = 1st Month of the year and the day he joined was 4th. All together in a retarded fashion=14. Don't try to apply much logic into it.

Yeah, but it's not supernatural or anything. There are just certain phrases and numbers or even items that have prominance in our subconsious minds, and we will consciously project them all over the place. Kind of like in many cultures 7 is lucky while 13 isn't. It is rather weird though.

Indeed, it isn't supernatural or a binding, mythical law or anything. It's just a very pervasive number, which is easy for the superstitious (read: gullible) and the crazy conspiracy nuts to get their teeth sunk into.

Their crazy teeth.

Yea totally agree, if you look hard enough for a connection to something no matter how slim, you will find it. Kinda reminds me of a long time ago Uri Geller was on the tv and he said there is something very powerful about the number 11 and that every time a clock reads 11:11 your eyes will be strangely drawn to it, and to a lesser extent all the double numbers. From now on you will see its true, aside from the fact your eyes are drawn to a clock all the other times but you just wont count them...

What a real load of shit.
Wait a minute!

*rearranges letters*

Hitler, Waldo, hat, a sofa.
*Gasp*
Hitler is alive, hiding in a Where's Waldo book on the page where Waldo's hat can be found next to a sofa.

Search for a pattern, grasp at every straw and you shall find what you seek.

"I finished the movie at 10:07. Today's date is the 6th. 10+7+6=23"

This dignifies that is doesn't follow logic, you could replace six with anything, such as the amount of times you fapped today, anything really.

Lol you guys are seriously silly.. any number would work the same way unless its not too high. Its just funny seeing conversations like these from a mathematician's pov.

I guess what I'm trying to say is:
Lrn Sum MATHs N00BS.

Oh yea and the OP.... you were born in 1994?! you are the first person to make me feel old at 22 - I need to gtfo these forums...

You do see you're stretching things, right? In your system you should add 1 + 4 + 2 + 9. Just to make the system "right" you took 14 instead of 1 + 4 and you dropped the 2 from 2009.

Other stretched examples:

"The date of my birthday is June 27. June has 4 letters. 27-4=23".
Why did you leave out the 6 from June, and why did you substract 4? You can always pull out numbers out of thin air to get a certain result.

"When you add the letters of my street into that number, you get 32, 23 backwards."
What, now 32 is a good number too? And 46? And -23?

"I'm graduating high school in 2012. 20+1+2=23"
You did it again: taking 20 instead of 2 + 0.
If you're trying to prove something, you might as well be consistent.
